About this house rental
Welcome to Haus Großmoos, your vacation home for up to 8 people in the heart of the Black Forest, right on the edge of the woods. Whether you’re a family with children, on a multigenerational vacation, or taking a break with friends: With about 140 m² of living space, a large garden, a sauna, and a crackling wood-burning stove, you’ll find plenty of room for time together and quiet moments. From here, you can head straight out into the natural beauty of the Upper Black Forest: hike through the Wutach Gorge, take day trips to Schluchsee, Titisee, and Feldberg, or simply relax after an active day.
Living & Relaxing
The spacious living/dining room is the heart of the house: plenty of wood, cozy nooks, and a crackling wood-burning stove provide exactly the Black Forest coziness you’re looking for on vacation (firewood is provided free of charge). For evenings spent together, there’s a large selection of board games and books to browse through, plus a ping-pong table for an active break in between. Whether it’s game night, story time, or reading a book by the window with a view of the countryside, there’s something for every generation here.
Sleeping: Cozy accommodations for 8 people
The vacation home offers four bedrooms, providing comfortable accommodations for up to 8 people. On the first floor, you’ll find one bedroom with a double bed and another with two single beds. Upstairs, there’s another bedroom with a double bed and one with two single beds. Two modern, invitingly designed bathrooms with showers and an additional separate toilet ensure that even larger groups can start their day feeling relaxed.
Fully equipped kitchen
In the open kitchen with a dining area, you can prepare anything from a quick breakfast to a large group meal: an oven, dishwasher, stove, microwave, and coffee maker are provided, along with plenty of dishes for all guests. This way, after a day of hiking, you can comfortably prepare your own meals and wind down the evening together at the large table.
Sauna & Relaxation
A special highlight is the on-site sauna. After a hike, a day on the slopes, or out in the fresh forest air, you can warm up here and let your body and soul unwind. If you’d like, start your day with a run through the woods or a few yoga exercises in the garden, and treat yourself to the soothing warmth of the sauna in the evening. Wellness in the Black Forest, completely private and without other guests.
Garden & Nature Right Outside the Door
The house is situated on a large, natural property in a quiet, sunny location on the outskirts of town, right at the edge of the forest. The large garden with a lawn invites you to play, sunbathe, and breathe deeply; on the terrace, complete with patio furniture and a grill, you can wind down on balmy summer evenings. Children have plenty of space to run around, adults can find peace and quiet, and with a little luck, you’ll spot squirrels and birds right from your window. At night, on clear nights, you’ll have a view of a wonderful starry sky.

Location: quiet, green, and central all at once
Haus Großmoos is located in the Gündelwangen district of the town of Bonndorf in the Black Forest Nature Park, in a quiet spot on the outskirts of town yet well connected. A great local restaurant is only about 700 m away; shopping and a bakery can be found in Bonndorf (about 6 km), and a bus stop is about 700 m away. Its location near the Swiss border makes the house an ideal starting point for excursions in all directions—from the Upper Black Forest to Freiburg, Basel, and Zurich.
Summer: Hiking, Biking & Swimming
Hiking trails start practically right outside the front door. A classic destination is the nearby Wutach Gorge with the Schluchtensteig trail, one of Germany’s most beautiful gorge hikes. For days spent swimming, the Schluchsee (approx. 12 km), the idyllic Schlüchtsee, and the Titisee (approx. 23 km) are all great options. There, you can also go boating, stand-up paddleboarding, or simply enjoy the refreshing lakes. On rainy days or for pure swimming fun, the Badeparadies Schwarzwald in Titisee—with its palm oasis and water slides—is only about 23 kilometers away, a highlight especially for families with children. Cyclists and mountain bikers will find an extensive network of trails around Bonndorf.
Winter: Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing & Snow-Covered Forests
In winter, the region transforms into a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. The Feldberg ski area is about 16 km away, and cross-country ski trails are just about 10 km away. Winter hikes through snow-covered forests, sledding with the kids, and hot chocolate by the wood-burning stove—followed by a trip to the sauna.
Day Trips & Attractions in the Area
Its location in the Upper Black Forest makes Haus Großmoos the ideal starting point for exploration tours. In the immediate vicinity, the Wutach Gorge and many other hiking trails beckon. For children, there are great hiking trails such as the marble run in Ühlingen, the Schlühüwana Park in Grafenhausen, or the Riesenbühlturm in Schluchsee. A trip to the Feldberg, the highest mountain in the Black Forest, is worthwhile in every season, with the Feldberg Railway and panoramic views. Families enjoy visiting the nearby amusement and animal parks, while those looking to relax enjoy the cities of Freiburg and Titisee-Neustadt with their cafés and shops. Tasmania Park in Löffingen, a zoo and amusement park, is home to one of Europe’s largest predator enclosures, and Steinwasen Park features a fantastic summer toboggan run. The famous Triberg Waterfalls, the “Blackforestline” suspension bridge, and the traditional Black Forest cuckoo clocks are also worth a day trip. Those who want to explore Switzerland can easily reach Basel, Zurich, and the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen by car.
