House in Douglas Lake, TN
Reasons to book
About this house rental
A real log cabin with peaceful seasonal lake views, inside a quiet, gated community — and 20 to 30 minutes from Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Dollywood on flat, paved roads. No scary driveway, no narrow switchbacks.
Walls of windows in the great room look out over the water and the rolling ridgelines beyond, so the view starts the second you walk in the door. Our first summer guests all led with it. "The views overlooking the lake were breathtaking," one wrote in August — "whether we were enjoying our morning coffee or winding down at the end of the day."
A note on the water, because we'd rather you hear it from us. Douglas Lake is a TVA reservoir, and TVA lowers it roughly 25 feet between late summer and mid-January for flood control, then refills it through spring. Summer and early fall are full pool — water to the treeline, which is the view in most of our photos. In winter the channel narrows, the limestone shelves along the shoreline come out of the water, and with the leaves down you can see further up the valley than you can in July. A different view, but still a view. If you're booking November through March, come for the fireplace-and-hot-tub version of this cabin.
