We built this house for the kind of trip people talk about for years. The kind where you walk in, drop your bags, and you're suddenly just steps from the lake life that Midwesterners dream about all winter long. Beach days, live music, a Spotted Cow around the fire table while the kids take over the game garage. No matter who you're gathering with - this is the place to do it.

We are a family of six, and we have the travel stories to prove it — the unforgettable trips, and the ones we're still recovering from. The vacation where everyone was crammed into the same room and the baby had outgrown the pack-and-play and refused to sleep. The rental with those gorgeous linen curtains that let in every ray of morning light at 5:30 AM. The trip where we forgot the white noise machines and paid for it for three days. We've been there. We really have.

We put rocking chairs on the front porch and swivel chairs facing the front windows for exactly this reason.

— A NOTE FROM YOUR HOSTS —
We are not a property management company. We're a family who found something rare in Williams Bay and wanted to share it. When you choose Olive House, you're our guest — and we mean that.

As a mom and the one who plans the family trips and girls' weekends, I know the weight of picking the right place. That moment of pulling up and hoping it's everything you imagined. We set this house up so that it is — and then some. Our goal is simple: that you love it here so much you come back every summer, until it starts to feel like yours too.

There's something that happens when you cross into Wisconsin. The shoulders drop. The pace changes. You're almost there.

Olive House was built in the 1920s, and we want you to know that before you book. Every surface has been renovated — new floors, updated bathrooms, refreshed kitchen, fresh paint throughout — and the house has modern amenities including central air conditioning and a dedicated mini-split for the upstairs loft. But the floors creak. The walls have a little character. The bones are old, and we love them.

This is a renovated lake cottage with a century of history — not a new build. If you're looking for that, this isn't your place. But if you want a home that feels like it has always been exactly where it belongs, with everything updated and nothing lost — welcome to Olive House.

Olive House is a cottage in a natural setting — we're surrounded by green space, wildlife, and gardens, and we love it that way. Occasionally a fly finds its way in, or a stink bug makes an appearance. We treat the property regularly and maintain it carefully, but this is a lake cottage in Wisconsin, not a sealed hotel room. Seasonal insects are a normal part of the environment and are not grounds for a refund or dispute.

🚶 Booking guest must be 25+ and present for the entire stay

🐾 Pets: Up to 2 dogs w/ prior approval, $50/pet/per day. No other pets.
Pet stays are subject to prior approval and are not available via Instant Book. Pet fee of $50 / night / approved dog. Please message us before booking if you plan to bring a dog.

All guests will be required to sign a short rental agreement prior to check-in, in order to collect contact information as required by our short term rental license, and to agree to dog stay rules (if a dog stay has been approve). This agreement will be sent upon booking confirmation and must be signed before check-in instructions are released.

For the safety and security of our guests and property, Olive House has exterior security cameras at the front door and back door. Cameras are exterior only — there are none inside the home.

In order to be good neighbors to our Williams Bay community, we also use a decibel monitor on the property during quiet hours. This device measures noise levels only and does not record audio. If noise levels exceed community standards, we will reach out directly.
