Welcome to the KaLa Vacation Home—your temporary home in the Mecklenburg Lake District
A warm welcome—we’re so glad you’re interested in our vacation home! We’ve renovated our home in Penzlin with great attention to detail and furnished it so that you’ll feel right at home from the very first moment. As a family ourselves, we know what matters most on vacation: arriving, taking a deep breath, having plenty of space—while still having everything you need close at hand. That’s exactly why we created this house. With 120 square meters of living space, it offers a comfortable temporary home for up to 8 guests and is ideal for two families or several couples who are vacationing together but still want to maintain their own private space.
The House
The heart of the house is the open-concept living and dining area, where vacation life naturally comes together. On cooler evenings, a fireplace provides cozy warmth and that special sense of comfort that really rounds out a vacation evening. There’s room for the whole group around the large dining table—whether for a hearty breakfast, a shared dinner, or a board game after a long day in nature.
The adjacent kitchen is fully equipped and leaves nothing to be desired. A ceramic cooktop, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer, and a coffee maker are all included, as are plenty of dishes, pots, pans, and cooking utensils for eight people. This makes it easy to cook for the whole group—from a quick breakfast to a big meal together.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
For restful nights, there are three bedrooms available, furnished with comfortable double and king-size beds. All windows are fitted with fly screens, so you can sleep undisturbed even with the windows open. The rooms are bright and cheerfully furnished and offer everyone plenty of space to relax.
Two bathrooms ensure that no one has to wait, even when the house is fully occupied—a real convenience when two families are traveling together. The bathroom on the first floor has a shower and a bathtub, while the second bathroom in the attic has a shower and a toilet. Towels and bed linens are, of course, provided.
Outside: Patio and Garden
As soon as the weather cooperates, life moves outside. On the patio with a grill, you can wind down the day in relaxation, while in the 400-square-meter garden, children can play to their heart’s content and adults can enjoy the sun in peace. Breakfast in the fresh air, a cozy evening barbecue, or simply reading a book in a lounge chair—here you’ll find the space to do it all.
For anyone who wants to actively explore the lake district, there’s a lockable bike shed where your bikes are safely stored. If you’re traveling by electric car, you can use a charging station right next to the house.

To make your stay as hassle-free as possible, we’ve thought of everything: A washer and dryer are available, free Wi-Fi ensures you stay connected, and soothing underfloor heating keeps the house cozy even during the colder months. We’ve even thought of the little things that are easy to forget: basic supplies like salt, pepper, oil, paper towels, and toilet paper will be waiting for you upon arrival, so you can feel right at home and won’t have to go shopping on your first day.
The Location—Quiet Yet Central
Our house is located on a quiet side street on the outskirts of Penzlin, away from through traffic and the hustle and bustle. Here, you can truly unwind. At the same time, everything is within easy reach: the supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, and a café are all conveniently accessible on foot or by bike. The nearest lake is just a few hundred meters away and is perfect for a morning stroll or a quiet moment in the evening.
Penzlin itself is a charming little town with a castle worth seeing. From here, you can quickly reach the larger towns in the region: Neubrandenburg, Neustrelitz, and Waren an der Müritz—with their shops, restaurants, and cultural offerings—are all easily accessible.
The Surroundings—Nature, Water, and Culture
The Mecklenburg Lake District is one of Germany’s most beautiful natural landscapes—over a thousand lakes, vast forests, and tranquil, unspoiled landscapes await you right on your doorstep. For nature lovers, water enthusiasts, and those seeking peace and quiet, this region is a true paradise.
From the house, you can set out on extended bike rides through the lake landscape, passing small villages, fields, and idyllic lakeside paths. On the water, you can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, rowing, and sailing—rental stations are available in many nearby towns. Those who enjoy hiking or wildlife watching will also find plenty to enjoy here: with a little luck, you might spot cranes, ospreys, and sea eagles, and the Müritz National Park, with its impressive natural scenery, is just a short drive away.
The region also has plenty to offer culturally. Penzlin Castle with its museum, the Müritzeum in Waren—home to Germany’s largest freshwater aquarium complex—as well as the Baroque town of Neustrelitz and the “City of Four Gates,” Neubrandenburg, are all great destinations for day trips. Whether you’re looking for an active vacation or simply relaxation in nature—you’ll find both here, and often both in a single day.
Getting Here and Parking
It’s easy to get here by car, train, or bus. By car, you can reach Penzlin via the B192 from Neubrandenburg or Neustrelitz; the A19 is about 50 kilometers away. Parking spaces are available right at the property, and there is a charging station for electric cars. If you’re traveling by train, take the train to Neustrelitz, Neubrandenburg, or Waren an der Müritz, and from there continue by bus or taxi—the bus ride to Penzlin takes about 30 minutes. We’d be happy to provide you with all the necessary information before your arrival so that you can arrive at our property feeling relaxed.

To ensure that all guests—and our neighbors—feel comfortable here, our house is designed entirely with a quiet, relaxing vacation in mind. We ask that you treat the house with care and be considerate of the neighborhood. Smoking is not permitted inside the house, but is, of course, allowed on the patio and in the garden. You’re welcome to bring your dog by prior arrangement—we’re always happy to welcome four-legged guests.
