About this house rental

On a clear afternoon you can see the islands from the roof deck.
Anacapa sits out past the water, close enough on a good day to make out its shape. The ferry that takes you there leaves from the harbor you can walk to from this house.
The sand is a two-minute walk. Not “moments from the beach” — two minutes, barefoot, down the street and you’re on it.
UPSTAIRS IS WHERE THE LIVING HAPPENS
The floor plan is upside down on purpose. Living, kitchen, and dining are on the top floor, where the ocean breeze actually reaches and the view is worth having. French doors open straight onto the deck, and for most of a long stay they simply stay open — the difference between a house with a view and a house that lives in one.
THE ROOFTOP DECK
Private and exclusively yours. West-facing, open sky, ocean and islands out front.
It becomes the most-used room in the house within about three days. People eat dinner out here. Come up with coffee before anyone else is awake and stay longer than they meant to. Forty minutes before sundown it’s the best seat in the neighborhood, and after dark on a quiet night you can hear the surf.
One honest note: the islands are weather-dependent. On a heavy marine-layer morning you won’t see them at all. Most afternoons, once it burns off, you will.
SLEEPING AND SOAKING
Three bedrooms, arranged so people on different schedules don’t collide.
Downstairs, a king and a queen share a full bath — the right setup for kids, visiting family, or a second person who starts work three hours ahead of you.
Upstairs, the primary has a California king, a jetted tub, and a custom tile shower. The tub earns its keep after a day in cold Pacific water, which is most days here between May and October.
THE YARD
Private, with a built-in BBQ and an outdoor shower.
The outdoor shower is the detail that gives the house away — it was built by someone who actually goes to the beach. Sand stays outside. You rinse off, hang the towel, and walk into a clean house. Over a month that stops being a novelty and becomes the reason the floors still look good in week four.
The BBQ turns into most of your summer dinners. Long stays and takeout don’t mix; you’ll be cooking, and you’ll be doing it out here.
THE TWO-MINUTE RADIUS
Two minutes to the sand. Beyond that, still on foot: the harbor, groceries, and cafés. Downtown Ventura is five minutes out.
That combination is rarer than it sounds. Most beach rentals make you drive for anything that isn’t sand, which means a month there is a month of errands by car. Here the daily stuff — coffee, a loaf of bread, a walk after dinner — happens without keys.
Surfers Point and C Street, Ventura’s best-known breaks, are minutes north. The Saturday farmers market downtown is worth the alarm.
AND THE ISLANDS, EVENTUALLY
Channel Islands National Park is one of the least-visited national parks in the country, and the boat leaves from your walkable harbor. It’s the rare day trip you can decide on over breakfast.
Ojai is about twenty minutes inland for the valley and the Sunday market. Santa Barbara is roughly half an hour up the 101. Los Angeles is an hour or so south — close enough for the meeting you have to take, far enough to forget the rest of the time.
A month is enough to do all of it unhurried. That’s the case for a longer stay, and this is a good base for one.
WHO ENDS UP HERE
Travel nurses and medical professionals on thirteen-week contracts. Remote workers who wanted a beach town without giving up fast internet and a real desk. Families relocating to Ventura County who need somewhere genuine to land while they house-hunt. People between homes, mid-renovation, or waiting out a claim. Snowbirds who did the math on a California winter.
What they share is needing somewhere to live for a while, not somewhere to visit.
PRACTICAL
Fast wifi throughout — the kind you can hold a video call on from the deck.
Garage parking, which matters more than it sounds like it should. This is a residential street, and summer weekends bring beach traffic that makes street parking a competitive sport. You won’t be playing.
Smoking isn’t permitted anywhere on the property, the rooftop deck included.
