About this apartment rental

Summary:

Bring the whole group to Mauna Kai in Princeville with two private condos on Kauai's lush North Shore: a 3-bedroom, 2-bath two-storey Unit A and a 2-bedroom, 2-bath ground-floor Unit B, five bedrooms in all, two full kitchens, two covered lanais in the gardens, and the community pool and hot tub a short stroll from either front door.

What we guarantee: Both condos are always inside the Mauna Kai Princeville complex, whether they share a building or sit in separate buildings, and always within a 2-3 minute walk of each other along the garden paths. Unit A is a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo and Unit B is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo, with exactly the beds listed below in every bedroom. Unit A's living room and lanai look into the treetops and tropical garden; Unit B's covered ground-floor lanai opens straight onto the lawn and tropical garden. Both homes are kept to the same standard you see in these photos. If we ever could not deliver that, you would approve the alternative first or receive a full refund.

Bed types: Unit A - Master Bedroom: Queen; Bedroom 2: Queen; Bedroom 3: 2 Twins. Living room sofa bed; Unit B - Master Bedroom: King; Bedroom 2: Queen. Living room sofa bed.

The 5 bedrooms sleep 10 guests at 2 per bedroom, and the sleeper sofa in each living room sleeps 2 more, adding 4 additional guests for a combined maximum of 14.

Unit A is the two-storey home: a living room under a vaulted wood-beam ceiling with a white sectional, a wall-mounted TV and tall windows into the trees, sliding doors to a lanai with a hanging egg chair, a round dining table for four, and a kitchen with cherry cabinets, a wood-topped bar and stainless appliances. A wood staircase leads up to a loft seating area that overlooks the living room. The queen master has an en-suite bathroom with a stone-tile walk-in shower; the queen bedroom and the twin bedroom use the second full bath, which also has a walk-in shower.

Unit B is the single-level home: a living room with a sofa, a wall-mounted TV and a split air-conditioning unit, a round dining table for four, and a white kitchen with granite counters, stainless appliances and pendant lights. Sliding doors open onto a covered lanai with a bistro table and two chairs set on the lawn against the tropical garden. The king master has an en-suite bathroom with a tub-shower, and the queen bedroom opens onto its own garden patio with two chairs and uses the second full bath with a tub-shower.

Good to know before you book: each condo has its own front door and its own entry details, so the two groups come and go independently. Unit B is at ground level with no internal stairs; Unit A has a few steps up to its covered entry lanai and an interior staircase to the loft, so tell us if stairs are a concern and we will flag it on your booking. Free parking is on site, both homes have ceiling fans and air conditioning, and there is a 4-night minimum with check-in from 3 PM and check-out by 11 AM.

This is a newer listing and guest reviews haven't rolled in just yet - you could be among the first to stay. We'd love to answer any questions about the homes, the community, or your dates before you book, so please don't hesitate to message us.

The Space:

Unit A (3BR): Unit A is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom two-storey condo at Mauna Kai with vaulted wood-beam ceilings and hardwood floors. The living room has a white sectional, a wall-mounted TV and tall windows into the trees, and sliding doors open onto a lanai with a hanging egg chair looking into the tropical garden. The dining area has a round table for four beside a kitchen with cherry cabinets, a wood-topped bar counter, a stainless refrigerator and range and a range hood. A wood staircase leads up to a loft seating area with a sofa and armchair that overlooks the living room. The living room sofa is a sleeper for two more guests, bringing this home's total to 8. The master bedroom has a queen bed, a ceiling fan and an en-suite bathroom with a stone-tile walk-in shower and a granite vanity. The second bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom has two twin beds; they share the second full bathroom, which has a walk-in shower. Ceiling fans and air conditioning run throughout.

Unit B (2BR): Unit B is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom single-level ground-floor condo at Mauna Kai. The living room has a sofa, a wall-mounted TV and a split air-conditioning unit, the dining area has a round table for four, and the kitchen has white cabinets, granite counters, a stainless refrigerator and range and pendant lighting. Sliding doors open onto a covered lanai with a mosaic bistro table and two chairs set right on the lawn, with the tropical garden all around. The living room sofa is a sleeper for two more guests, for a total of 6 in this home. The master bedroom has a king bed, tall louvred windows and an en-suite bathroom with a tub-shower; the second bedroom has a queen bed and sliding doors onto its own small garden patio with two wicker chairs, and uses the second full bathroom with a tub-shower.

This Mauna Kai stay brings together a private 3-bedroom condo and a private 2-bedroom condo inside the same Mauna Kai Princeville complex. The condos may share a building or sit in separate buildings within the complex, but either way they are always within a 2-3 minute walk of each other along the garden paths.

Guest Access:

Your reservation includes the private interiors of both Unit A and Unit B, each with its own front door and its own entry details, plus the shared Mauna Kai community amenities: the pool, hot tub and barbecue area. Free parking is on site. Arrival instructions, entry details and parking information for each condo are sent before check-in.

The Neighborhood:

Mauna Kai sits on Wyllie Road in Princeville, the resort community perched on the cliffs of Kauai's North Shore above Hanalei Bay. Hideaways Beach and the Queen's Bath tide pools are about two miles away, Hanalei Bay and Hanalei town about four miles, and the Princeville Makai Golf Course, the Princeville Shopping Center and the resort hotels are a few minutes by car. Hanalei town offers surf shops, farm-to-table restaurants and the historic pier; Tunnels Beach for snorkeling and Haena State Park at the start of the Kalalau Trail are about 20 minutes west along the one-lane bridges, and Kilauea Lighthouse, Anini Beach and the taro fields of Hanalei Valley are all close by. Na Pali Coast boat tours and helicopter flights leave from the island's harbors and airports.

Getting Around:

A rental car is essential on the North Shore. Lihue Airport (LIH) is about 45 minutes south of Princeville, Hanalei town is about 10 minutes west, and the road ends at Haena State Park about 20 minutes beyond that, where parking reservations are required in advance. One-lane bridges along the North Shore road slow traffic, so allow extra time for exploring. Rideshare operates on Kauai but is limited on the North Shore, so plan on driving.
