About this cabin rental
Welcome to Otter Space Cabin
We’re so glad you’re here! We hope you’ll slow down, enjoy Hood Canal, and make yourself at home. Please help us keep the cabin in great shape by following these simple house rules.
Quiet Hours
* Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
* Please be respectful of our neighbors and keep outdoor conversations and music at a reasonable volume.
Occupancy
* Only registered guests may stay overnight.
* No parties, events, or large gatherings without prior approval.
Parking
* Please park only in parking areas designated in your welcome email.
* Boat trailer parking permitted with prior approval and applicable fee.
* Do not block neighboring driveways or the roadway.
No Smoking
* Smoking or vaping is not permitted inside the cabin.
* If smoking outdoors, please dispose of cigarette butts safely and completely.
Pets
* Conscientious pets are permitted with applicable pet fee.
* Please keep pets off furniture and clean up after them. You are responsible for any pet-related damage.
Waterfront Safety
* The tidal area can be slippery and sharp, especially during low tide.
* Children should be supervised at all times near the water.
* Guests use the beach, deck, waterfront areas, and watercraft at their own risk.
* Kayaks and paddle boards may be used. We recommend use at high tide to facilitate water entry and exit. If using at low tide when the oyster bed is exposed, please lift watercraft over the tidelands and take care to avoid personal injury--the oyster bed is sharp.
* Kayaks should be lifted and moved by two people. Please do not drag kayaks on cabin deck.
* Please do not drag paddle boards on the tidelands--they will tear on oyster shells and barnacles.
* Return and store watercraft after use.
* Keep waterfront gate closed when not in use.
Fire & Grill Safety
* No open fires permitted at the cabin.
* Never leave the grill unattended when in use.
* Shut off the propane tank when not in use.
* A fire extinguisher can be found in the kitchen.
Wildlife & Fishing/Harvest
You’re sharing this special place with eagles, seals, otters, loons, and many other native animals.
* Please enjoy wildlife from a distance.
* Do not feed wildlife.
* Secure food and dispose of trash properly.
* Oyster harvest is permitted for personal consumption on-site only. Check in with shellfish advisories from Washington Department of Natural Resources before harvesting (natural algae blooms can create toxins in local shellfish).
* Fishing and crab harvest is permitted only in accordance with all applicable state restrictions and permit requirements.
Kitchen
* Please wash all dishes before checkout and leave in the dry rack. Do not return wet dishes to the cabinets or shelves.
* Wipe up spills promptly.
* Help us keep seafood odors under control by sealing shells and fish scraps before placing them in outdoor trash.
Hot Tub
* Shower before entering when possible.
* We recommend brushing any debris off the cover before opening, to keep debris out of the tub.
* No glass in or around the hot tub.
* Please replace the cover after each use.
* Do not adjust water chemistry.
* If you notice anything unusual, let us know right away.
Septic System
Our cabin is on a septic system. Please flush only toilet paper. Do not flush wipes (even “flushable” ones), paper towels, feminine products, diapers, or other items.
Respect the Home
* Please don’t rearrange furniture.
* Report any damage or maintenance concerns as soon as possible so we can address them quickly.
* Lock doors and close windows whenever you leave.
Check-Out
Before you head home, we appreciate your help with a few simple tasks:
* Place used towels in the shower.
* Turn off lights and small appliances.
* Lock all doors and windows.
* Return any borrowed items to where you found them.
Most importantly, relax, enjoy the water, and have a wonderful stay. We hope you’ll leave with great memories—and come back to visit Otter Space again!
