Lisdoonvarna is a small spa town in County Clare, on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, with a population of around 900 people. It sits on the edge of The Burren, making it an excellent base for exploring the region. The town is best known for: The Matchmaking Festival – Held every September, it's one of Europe's oldest and largest singles festivals. The tradition dates back more than 160 years, attracting tens of thousands of visitors for live music, dancing, and social events.
Spa Wells – Lisdoonvarna is Ireland's only active spa town. Its sulphur-rich mineral springs have attracted visitors since the 19th century, when people came to "take the waters" for their supposed health benefits. Traditional Irish music – Many pubs host live traditional music, especially during the tourist season and festival weekends. Food – The town has earned a reputation for excellent local produce and is home to Wild Honey Inn, Ireland's first Michelin-starred pub.
Lisdoonvarna is a great destination if you're interested in Irish culture, live music, scenic landscapes, and a relaxed village atmosphere. It's particularly lively during September's Matchmaking Festival but much quieter during the rest of the year.
