About this apartment rental

The terrace at Casa Adele follows the sun: south-facing for breakfast, with the sunset dropping behind the Apuan Alps to the northwest most evenings. Inside, 120m² on the third floor of a quiet palazzo next door to Villa Guinigi, within Lucca's Renaissance walls - original hand-painted

tile floors, two king bedrooms, a separate laundry room, and a practical rarity for the historic centre: drive to the door (no ZTL) and park 50 metres away.

Casa Adele is a long-time family home rather than a purpose-built rental - you can tell from the hand-painted tile floors, kept exactly as they were. The apartment gets light on two sides and mountains in two directions: the Apuan Alps to the northwest, Monte Pisano to the south, with

Lucca's tree-topped walls in view from the living room and the terrace.

Next door is Villa Guinigi, the 15th-century villa of Paolo Guinigi, lord of Lucca, now the city's national museum - this is one of the quietest, greenest corners inside the walls. The famous tree-topped Guinigi Tower is a three-minute walk. The apartment is ideal for four - two couples, friends, or a family - and sleeps up to six with the double sofa bed in the living room.

Lucca sees a fraction of the crowds of Florence or Pisa: piazzas, markets, good food, and the 4km wall-top promenade you can walk or cycle right round. It also works well as a base - Pisa is about 30 minutes by train, Florence around 1h20, and the Versilia beaches roughly 25 minutes away.

The space

The home (120m²- one of the largest apartments inside the walls):

Living room - sofa, large dining space, smart TV, and a double sofa bed for the fifth and sixth guests. The main window faces south, overlooking the city, the walls and the mountains beyond, so the room is bright from morning onward - with the original hand-painted tiles underfoot.

Two king bedrooms - both quiet, both with large wardrobes, both facing the sunset over the Apuan Alps. Quality mattresses; linen washed at high temperature.

Separate kitchen - fully equipped for proper cooking: gas hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, coffee machine, kettle and everything else you'd expect. Lucca's cafés and food

shops are minutes away.

Separate laundry room - a real rarity in centro storico apartments: washing machine, with space to dry and iron away from the living areas.

Bathroom - walk-in shower, bidet, hairdryer, toiletries provided. (One bathroom - brilliant for four, workable for six.)

The terrace (14m²) - it works all day: south-facing sun for breakfast and morning coffee, then the sunset behind the Apuans in the evening. Table and chairs for dining outside, and a bench for taking in the view of the walls, the mountains, or the town.

Air conditioning and independent heating throughout, fast Wi-Fi, travel cot available.

Guest access

Unlike almost every apartment in the historic centre, Casa Adele is not inside the ZTL (the restricted-traffic zone that catches many visitors out). Drive in through Porta Elisa, unload your bags at the front door, and park at the public Mazzini car park 50 metres away - no ZTL fines, no long walk with luggage.

On foot you're already inside the walls: 5 minutes to Via Fillungo, 5 to Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, 3 to the Guinigi Tower, and the walls themselves - Lucca's 4km elevated park, best explored by bike - are 100 metres away. Villa Guinigi and its museum are next door.

Check-in is in person (15:00–20:00) with the local team, whose office is just around the corner -so there's always someone nearby if you need anything during your stay. Hours are flexible in low season.

Other things to note

•The apartment is on the third floor with no lift - 3 flights of stairs (60 steps). Worth it for the light and the views, but not suitable for guests with mobility difficulties.

• There is one bathroom. Ideal for 4–5; fine for 6.

• A residential palazzo in a very quiet corner of the centre - no parties, and we ask guests to keep noise down in the evenings.

• No smoking, no pets.

• Travel cot available on request.

• Registration: CIN IT046017C238M3ZTZ5.
