About this cottage rental

Escape the hustle and bustle at this peaceful countryside retreat located in Great Ayton, a contemporary and airy retreat nestled on the fringes of the North York Moors National Park. Perfect for families and group of friends, this delightful property offers a great base for local adventures and days of Yorkshire rambling. Known for being the birthplace of explorer Captain James Cook, Great Ayton (1 mile) is a charming spot for quiet walks along the banks of the River Leven, including a 3-mile trail to Captain Cook’s Monument. More local charm awaits in the village of Ingleby Greenhow (4.5 miles), which is the perfect start point for outdoor enthusiasts thanks to its many footpaths leading to the North York Moors. With North Yorkshire’s golden coastline only 10 miles away, you can plan bucket-and-spade days to the likes of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Runswick Bay (all within 28 miles).

Before stepping inside this contemporary retreat, take a moment to appreciate your surroundings of verdant countryside and peaceful gardens. Head on in and find that the rural charm continues in the form of floor-to-ceilings windows that flood the interior with natural light and combine well with original features like exposed stone walls. Kick off muddy walking boots in the hallway and walk its length to uncover the social heart of the home, the open-plan lounge, kitchen and diner. Here, whitewashed walls blend with sumptuous furnishings to provide a sanctuary for relaxation after days of adventure. Rest weary walking feet as you sink into the soft seating and flick on the Smart TV for easy entertainment, or simply gaze out the patio doors to enjoy the moorland views. When stomachs rumble, walk through the archway and find a sleek, well-appointed kitchen space that boasts everything needed to cook up a feast for your loved ones. Gather in the rustic dining space beside the window to enjoy the chef’s work, or dine alfresco on the patio when the weather permits. At the end of each busy day away, retire to a choice of three delightful bedrooms. These rooms include a master super-king-size with garden access through patio doors, as well as a charming double bedroom and a cosy twin room. All three bedrooms boast well-equipped en-suite shower rooms for your comfort and convenience.

Outside, the peaceful and enclosed patio space offers the best spot to soak up the Yorkshire sunshine and enjoy your natural surroundings. Here, gather at the table and chairs for al fresco feasts together, and afterwards, gaze up at the stars as you soak in the private hot tub. Fluffy robes and slippers for each guest makes the short walk to the hot tub a pleasure, and for further indulgence, an on-site spa awaits your visit. Ample parking in the carpark.
