Follow the historic Coffin Trail or head high to take on Helm Crag, 1.5 miles away, also known as the Lion and the Lamb, which offers stunning views over the valley. A short drive away (4.5 miles) is Ambleside, home to an array of pretty gift shops, cosy bars, popular restaurants and interesting galleries, alongside a cinema for those rainy afternoons.
