About this cottage rental
Sat high above the Brecon Beacons and boasting views that are simply to die for, this fantastic 18th-century cottage is on hand to provide a stand-out stay in rural Wales. Just 3 miles from the fascinating literary town of Hay-on-Wye, this property promises peace and quiet but with plenty of activities just a short drive away. Each morning you may look forward to enjoying an alfresco breakfast with the rolling hills laid out in front of you, a great place to sit and plan adventure-filled days to come.
Maintaining plenty of its original character, this cottage has been lovingly renovated to highlight the low beamed ceilings, textured brick walls and stone flagged flooring. The ground floor boasts two lounges to be enjoyed, both of which can be kept warm and inviting thanks to wood burners. One of these lounges boasts a spacious dining table for all to sit down together. Meals can be prepared in the classic country kitchen which has been modernised for easy everyday use. Completing the property are three bright and cheerful bedrooms upstairs, all of which feature glorious views to wake up to each morning.
The quaint town of Hay-on-Wye will no doubt be your base throughout your stay, with its castle, pretty views of the River Wye and generous selection of bookshops to be explored. From here you can head into the national park on foot or on two wheels. The east of the Brecon Beacons National Park is home to the Black Mountains, challenge yourselves with a summit of Waun Fach (28 miles) or head to Crickhowell (22 miles) for a relaxing walk up its Table Mountain (24 miles). Thrill-seekers will find plenty of adventure centres close by, with abseiling, rock climbing and water sports on offer in guided trips.

- 3 bedrooms: 1 twin room, 1 twin room with 2ft 6 beds that can be pushed together, 1 double, please note all bedrooms are accessed via the twin bedroom
- Sofa bed in the lounge which can accommodate one guest
- 1 bathroom with shower over the bath
- Electric oven with ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine (found in the cupboard off the kitchen)
- 2 wood burners with logs included
- Smart TV
- Wi-Fi included
- The stairs to the first floor have a rope banister which may not suit those with limited mobility
- There a few other steps within the property on both floors to navigate different rooms at different levels
- Garden with picnic tables and benches
- 2 dogs welcome. Please keep them under control, as there are sheep in the surrounding fields
- Shops, restaurants and pubs, 4 miles
- Please note: there are low beams on the first floor level - please mind your head!
- Please note: there is a ha-ha wall which is a flat lawn with a 6ft drop on one side which should be considered if bringing a young child or dogs
- Find plenty of parking at the property but access is via the shared track which is a steep and rough stone farm track, some drivers might prefer to park in the lower off-road parking area and walk up. Probably not suitable for low-slung cars
