About this cottage rental

Tucked away just moments from Longnor’s welcoming inn, café and popular fish & chips restaurant, this charming cottage offers a fabulous base for those keen to explore the Peak District. Famous for its cobbled marketplace and as a setting for both Pride & Prejudice and the TV series ‘Peak Practice’, this historic village overlooks the meeting point of the Dove and Manifold valleys. A network of footpaths and quiet country lanes with stunning views begins right from the doorstep of this detached holiday home; choose from gentle riverside routes or more challenging climbs – with the famed 'Dragon's Back' of Parkhouse Hill and Chrome Hill and the distinctive dome of High Wheeldon within easy reach. For a change of pace, Buxton (6 miles) is home to gorgeous ornamental gardens, the famous Crescent, Thermal Spa and Opera House, and the impressive limestone chambers of Poole’s Cavern. Market town Bakewell (10 miles) – birthplace of the famous pudding – is another must-see, while historic houses Chatsworth House (13.5 miles) and Haddon Hall (11.5 miles) are both set within stunning grounds

Park directly outside, and you can unpack at a leisurely pace. A stable-style door opens into a sleek country kitchen with slate flooring and all the essentials for a fuss-free self-catering stay. Beyond, the dining room has a rustic table and an eclectic choice of seating, while the walls are adorned with a collection of super-cool artwork. Cook, eat and load the dishwasher, then relocate to the spacious sitting room where comfortable soft seating is arranged before a cast iron open fireplace and a Smart TV. Adjacent, the conservatory has complementary elegant sofas and doors onto the garden. When it’s time to retire, a staircase rises from the dining room to the first-floor landing, off which there’s a bathroom and three beautiful bedrooms – choose between the two doubles, and a separate room with bunk beds; perfect for a family with children or friends who fancy some extra space.

Well-stocked tiered gardens border the side and rear of the property, complete with a patio area, covered bench-style seating, a lawn, and plants chosen for seasonal interest.
