About this cottage rental
Perfect for a romantic retreat, this captivating rural escape sits just outside the historic village of Picklescott, in the northern foothills of the Long Mynd. There is so much to do in this designated National Landscape, which is teeming with wildlife, including deer, hares, curlews, skylarks and rare hen harriers. Walking trails, biking routes and bridleways criss-cross the landscape, and you’re on the border of the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve, which is worth exploring for its dramatic scenery and sweeping views. Nearby Church Stretton (6 miles) is popular with walkers. Visit the medieval market town of Shrewsbury (11 miles), and discover its cobbled streets filled with independent shops and high-quality restaurants, or head to Snailbeach Mine (10 miles) England’s most complete lead mine, for a fascinating insight into our industrial heritage – above and below ground. Experience the food and history of Ludlow (24 miles), or the National Trust estate of Attingham Park is only 12 miles away.
Inside the carefully converted building, you’ll find a welcoming, open-plan living space with a sloping ceiling, skylights and original wooden floorboards. The eclectic furnishings are delightfully shabby chic, including a farmhouse-style dining table lit by factory pendants, and a leather sofa that’s perfect for snuggling and enjoying a favourite movie on the Smart TV. The painted kitchen sits along one side of the room, and includes a deep, ceramic sink as well as a coffee machine and a handy air fryer. This room leads, via double doors, to the spectacular conservatory, with its rustic beams, comfortable seating and panoramic country views. When night falls, head to the charming king-size bedroom, also with a sloping ceiling and skylights, where you’ll find an antique metal-frame bed as well as hooks and a chest of drawers for storage. The adjacent shower room completes the interior, offering plenty of space and a walk-in shower with a rainfall head.
The enclosed lawned garden is a fabulous place in which to enjoy the sunshine or watch the stars come out, whether you’re sipping a morning coffee or a sundowner, or even taking your meal out into the fresh air. Admire the peaceful views, listen to birdsong and enjoy the ability to completely unwind. The property also features a patio with firepit to spend your evenings discussing your days adventures around.
