About this cottage rental
Get away from it all at this single-level country cottage sitting in a lovely rural location close to the peaceful village of Auldgirth. Sleeping six people across three bedrooms, it’s ideal for families or groups who are dreaming of a tranquil hideaway to call home while they discover Dumfries and Galloway together. History buffs will love exploring Drumlanrig Castle (9.5 miles), the home of the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry. If you have the kids with you, make a beeline for Dalscone Farm Fun (8.5 miles), where the resident farm animals and adventure play areas are sure to keep little ones happy. Head into Dumfries (10 miles) to visit the poet Robert Burns’ house or take a ghost tour. Further afield, escape into the wilderness to hike or cycle at Galloway Forest Park (23 miles). Stay into the evening and you’ll witness star-dotted skies in this Dark Sky Reserve.
Step inside and you’ll be greeted by a spacious central hallway. To the left, you’ll find a light-filled sitting room with large dual-aspect windows – a light and bright yet cosy space that expertly balances traditional comfort with chic, modern styling. Get cooking in the lovely galley kitchen, which seamlessly flows through to the elegant dining area. After dinner, head back to the sitting room to catch up on your favourite TV shows. When the day is done, you’ll find three beautifully styled bedrooms down the hallway – two doubles and a charming bunk room that’s perfect for the kids. Completing the layout is a stylish shower room with a shower cubicle.
Outside, you’ll find yourself in a lovely garden where traditional stone walls frame sweeping views of the rolling hills. Settle down at the picnic bench for your morning coffee or dine out here. Private parking is available for three cars.
