The Space:

Kosen House is a modern home on a private hillside on the Yucca Valley Mesa, with clean lines, polished concrete floors, walnut cabinetry and original artwork by the homeowner throughout. Large windows and sliding glass doors frame desert and mountain views from nearly every room. The backyard has an in-ground pool, a sauna, a cold plunge tub and a 60-yard golf range, and the front courtyard has a hot tub and a fire pit. With two bedrooms and an air mattress, it suits couples or a small group of up to five. Rack up a game on the full-size pool table between sauna rounds.

-Outdoor Amenities-

The backyard is tucked against a private hillside, with an in-ground pool overlooking the desert, lounge chairs, outdoor sofas, a traditional sauna, an outdoor tub for cold plunges and a full pool bathroom. Practice pitch shots on the 60-yard golf range or the putting green, and eat at the outdoor dining table. In the front courtyard, soak in the hot tub with panoramic views or gather around the fire pit after sunset. A short walk leads to a hilltop pergola, a good spot for sunrise coffee or stargazing.



-Living Area-

The open living space has floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, leather sofas and a large smart TV, plus board games and books. Just beyond, a full-size pool table sits in front of a gallery wall of the homeowner's original art. A queen air mattress is available in the living area for an extra guest.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The kitchen has walnut cabinetry, modern appliances, generous counters, open shelving and a picture window over the sink. It is stocked with spices, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, utensils and cookware, plus Nespresso and drip coffee makers, Joshua Tree Coffee Co. whole bean coffee, a grinder, sugar and tea. There is a breakfast bar, a dining area and outdoor dining just outside.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

The primary suite has a king bed and a private patio. The second bedroom has a queen bed and direct access to the backyard. The main house has a full bathroom with a walk-in shower and double vanity, and a second full bathroom is outdoors near the pool, sauna and cold plunge.



-Surrounding Area-

Downtown Joshua Tree, La Copine and Giant Rock Meeting Room in Flamingo Heights, and the West Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park all make good outings from Kosen House.

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy! Please note that a few supply closets stay locked to store rental supplies.



Please note that the cabinets above the refrigerator and the hallway closet are reserved for owner and housekeeping supplies and will stay locked.

Getting Around:

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Please note that Kosen House is in a remote location, and the final stretch to the home is on dirt roads, so please take it slow. The dirt roads are maintained, and a four-wheel drive car is not necessary, but please note that the dirt road conditions vary and may have bumps and ruts, particularly after rainstorms.



Other Things to Note:

-House-Specific Rules-

► Please avoid using the hot tub right after it has been serviced, while chemical levels are temporarily higher.



-Pool Heating-

Please note that pool heating is not offered at this time. There is no fee to heat the hot tub.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The pool and hot tub are serviced regularly, approximately between 9am and 4pm, and service may fall during your stay. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.
