Welcome! We offer a unique, 100% off-grid mountain cabin experience—the perfect place to unplug! Our rustic, multi-level cabin features a large wrap-around porch with stunning views of the surrounding valley, pastures, and pine trees.

* Address / Area: Located in the backcountry near the Black River area, 45 minutes outside of Alpine, AZ. The nearest stores are 45 minutes away, so pack accordingly.
* Road Conditions: Accessed via dirt forest roads. High-clearance vehicles are strongly recommended.
* Daylight Arrival: Navigating dark forest roads can be confusing—we strongly recommend arriving during daylight hours for check-in.
* Neighboring Properties: Woodpile Cabin is separate from Sprucedale Guest Ranch (their amenities are strictly for their guests unless you call management for prior permission). For horseback rides, contact Wiltbank's Y6 Ranch.

CLEANING POLICY: "GUEST AS MAID"

Because our remote location makes professional cleaning travel fees exceptionally high, we do not offer a professional cleaning service.
To keep your stay affordable, guests are strictly required to do their own checkout clean before departure using the cleaning supplies provided on-site.
* How to Avoid the Fee: Complete all required cleaning duties before your 10:00 AM checkout.
* Key Cleaning Duties:
- Kitchen: Wash, dry, and put away all dishes; wipe down counters and stove/oven.
- Bathroom: Perform a full bathroom clean—sanitize toilet, sink, counter, and shower.
- Floors & Surfaces: Sweep and mop all floors; wipe down tabletops and surfaces.
- General Tidy: Clear dirt/tracks and haul out all trash.

* The Penalty: If the cabin is left uncleaned or dirty upon departure, a $350 cleaning fee will be charged.

* No Garbage Collection: You must haul 100% of your trash, food, and beverages away with you when checking out.
* Zero Left Behind: No trash may be left inside or outside the cabin. Leaving garbage or food behind results in a $250 fee.

* Drinking Water: Tap water is hauled-in well water (occasionally treated with chlorine) and may not be suitable for drinking. Bring all drinking water (drink at your own risk).
* Firewood: Bring your own wood if you plan to use the outdoor firepit. You may collect fallen wood from the ground around the property, but do not use wood stored on the porch. Always check local Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest fire restrictions before burning outside.
* Paper, Plastic & Kitchen Items:
- Provided On-Site: 2 rolls of septic-safe toilet paper, trash sacks, dish soap, sponges, kitchen cookware, dishes, and silverware.
- Bring With You: Extra septic-safe toilet paper (for larger groups/longer stays), paper towels, dishcloths, aluminum foil, Ziploc bags, and optional paper plates/cups/plastic utensils to minimize dishwashing.

CRITICAL OFF-GRID RULES

The cabin runs entirely on solar power, propane, and hauled-in water.
* No Cell Service & No Guaranteed Wi-Fi: Plan to be unplugged. Download maps and check-in instructions before heading up. Limited satellite internet may be available, but speed varies and Wi-Fi is not guaranteed.
* No High-Wattage Appliances: Blow dryers, rotating curling irons, and electric coffee makers will trip system fuses and are strictly prohibited. Standard/normal curling irons and flat irons are permitted. Solar is intended for lights and charging phones/laptops.
* Water Conservation & Septic System: Water is hauled-in and limited—conserve water at all times. Nothing except septic-safe toilet paper may be flushed.
* Heating & Cooling: No AC (open windows for natural high-elevation mountain breezes; fans provided).
[NOTICE]: The indoor wood-burning stove is currently unavailable and being serviced. However, the propane heater is fully functional and will keep the cabin warm and cozy!
* Backup Power & Outages: A backup generator is on-site for emergencies only (requires host permission to run). Refunds are not issued for utility disruptions caused by weather or off-grid conditions.

* $100 Fee: Applied for excessive water use or failure to follow conservation rules.
* $50 Dog Fee: Applied per dog for guests bringing dogs (must be registered on reservation).
* $50 Solar & Generator Fee: Applied for excessive resource use, tripping fuses/breakers from unauthorized high-wattage appliances, or unauthorized generator operation.
