About this cottage rental
Once a humble pigsty on our peaceful Sussex farm, the Grade II listed Piggery has been lovingly converted into a warm and stylish little hideaway, perfect for couples or solo travellers looking for a relaxing rural retreat.
Tastefully decorated to reflect its historic setting, The Piggery is furnished with carefully chosen antique pieces that add charm and character, while still offering all the modern comforts you’d expect.
This charming, detached cottage has its own private garden and is all yours to enjoy. Inside, you’ll find a bright open-plan living and sleeping space, with a separate kitchen and bathroom. Snuggle up by the wood-burning stove on chillier evenings, sink into comfy armchairs, and enjoy your favourite shows on the Smart TV (Netflix and Amazon Prime ready – just log into your own account). There’s a super comfy king-size bed made up with Egyptian cotton sheets and feather pillows, and a cosy dining area for meals or a bottle of wine by the fire.
The kitchen is separate and well-equipped with everything you’ll need – oven, hob, air fryer, and fridge with a freezer compartment – enough to cook a full roast dinner if you fancy it! For coffee lovers, there’s a cafetière and Expresso machine. We also provide a few essentials like cooking oil, salt, pepper, tea, sugar, and coffee – plus a few breakfast basics such as oats and granola (just a heads-up, the granola may contain nuts).
The bathroom has a charming cottage feel, with a full-sized bath and an over-bath shower – ideal for soaking after a long walk.
Travelling with a little one?
We’re happy to accommodate babies under two. Just let us know if you’d like to use our travel cot and high chair, or if you’re bringing your own.
Outside, there’s a lovely private garden area to the back, with views across the valley, and a lawn with a table and chairs at the front – perfect for al fresco dining, summer BBQs, or enjoying a glass of Prosecco as the sun sets. The garden is gated and fully enclosed, so it’s safe for well-behaved dogs too.
Parking is just a short walk from the cottage, right here on the farm. Our entrance is through electric gates, so please make sure we have the mobile number you’ll have with you during your stay – that’s how we’ll give you access.
Don’t forget the logs!
The wood burner is a treat on cooler evenings, so remember to grab some logs and firelighters from a supermarket or petrol station on your way here.
Bringing your dog(s)?
We welcome up to two well-behaved dogs – just let us know in advance. There’s a £25 pet fee per stay, for up to two pups. A few doggy house rules to keep everyone happy:
- No dogs on the bed or furniture, please
- Dogs must be on a lead outside the Piggery garden
- Always supervise your dog in the garden and pick up after them (poop bags provided under the kitchen sink).
- Please don’t leave dogs alone in the cottage or let them chew or damage anything
- After a muddy adventure, use the dog wash station at the front of the cottage (hot & cold water and shampoo provided). Please bring your own towels – and no doggy baths in the tub!
A quick note on smoking:
We don’t allow smoking or vaping inside the cottage, and we prefer to host non-smoking guests.
The Piggery is a peaceful spot to unwind, explore, and enjoy the Sussex countryside. If you have any questions before or during your stay, just get in touch – we’re happy to help.
