The Lodge - Detached Cabin, Forest of Dean

We returned for another overnight stay and were just as pleased as the first time. It’s a lovely, clean and spacious place to stay, with a peaceful setting and everything you need for a comfortable stopover. We really enjoyed our return visit and would happily stay again. Highly recommended! 🐄❤️

On our return stay, we were a little disappointed that some of the thoughtful touches from our first visit were no longer provided. There was no milk, and as we had assumed there would be some like last time, we hadn’t brought any with us. The tea bags were the same as those left from our previous stay and hadn’t been placed in a pot. There also hadn’t been any top-up of coffee or sugar. We appreciate these are only small things, but they made a difference as we had really appreciated these little touches during our first stay.

We had a lovely stay and were so pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful little touches. Arriving to find 4 pints of milk in the fridge and biscuits waiting for us to enjoy with a hot drink was such a lovely welcome. The accommodation was lovely and spacious, spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. The amazing screen was perfect for watching TV or even having a bit of fun playing on the Wii. The setting was wonderfully peaceful, with cows and bulls as our neighbours, which made it feel like a real escape from everyday life. 🐄 A lovely place to stay as a mini break or a stop over. We would definitely recommend it and would happily stay again! ❤️

There were a few small things that could have made our stay even better. The lounge area could be a little more comfortable with a larger sofa, especially for relaxing in the evening. The kitchen could also have been stocked a little more, with extra tea towels, bin bags, coffee, tea, sugar, glasses and mugs. We also felt a shower mat would have been useful. The only mirror was a small one in the bathroom, so a larger, full-length mirror elsewhere in the accommodation would have been a nice addition. These are only minor points, but addressing them would make an already lovely stay even better.
