The Black Bull is on the edge of an area of great scenery which I, as a cyclist, was able to enjoy to the full. I ate in on both of the nights I was there, and there was a good range of pub grub along with curries, including vegetarian and vegan options. I had a very good vegetarian breakfast as well. The room was spacious and en-suite and my bed was comfortable. This was excellent value for money, especially in comparison to similar places to stay nearby. And of course if I'd not been travelling on my own, would have been even better value.
The decoration was a bit tired, but the saloon bar was tidy and inviting

Everything! Steven and his wife were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I needed to check in very early and check out later than usual, and Steven went out of his way to accommodate all of my requests without any hesitation. They are genuinely dog-friendly and made both me and my dogs feel very welcome. The food was outstanding too—I had the Sunday roast, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had.
Nothing at all. Everything exceeded my expectations.
