gîtes du Cheylard

Our family (two adults, a baby and a toddler) found everything we were looking for at Gîtes du Cheylard. The gîte sits within a beautifully renovated hilltop complex, with a main house and several outbuildings and it has all the charm you’d hope for in such lovely surroundings, paired with every modern comfort. Thanks to the clever orientation and beech hedges, there’s a real sense of privacy everywhere, yet without ever feeling cut off. The terrace flows straight into the open-plan living room and kitchen, with two generous bedrooms beyond, each with its own (equally generous) en-suite bathroom. Everything is tastefully furnished with a keen eye for detail. We were delighted to find a cupboard thoughtfully converted into a changing station for our baby, complete with changing mat, and we slept very well on the excellent mattresses. The gîte was immaculately maintained, and the cleanliness was beyond reproach. We made great use of the well-equipped kitchen (even baked some cookies). The lovely outdoor pool and jacuzzi deserve special mention. The location is excellent, just a few minutes’ drive from Montignac-Lascaux, a charming village with a number of festivities in the period we were there. Sadly, we never got round to using the electric bikes. None of it would have been quite the same without the warm, personal welcome from our hostess and her family, who were visiting during our stay. We felt very much at home. We’d happily have stayed far longer, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!
