Cottage in Phippsburg, ME
Reasons to book
About this cottage rental
You quite literally cannot get any closer to the water. If your priority is being steps from the soft sand of Head Beach, waking up to the sound of crashing waves, and watching the sunset from a row of Adirondack chairs overlooking the ocean, this location is unbeatable.
OUR COMMUNITY: QUIET AND NATURE-FOCUSED
Small Point is a quiet, tight-knit coastal community where neighbors are deeply respectful of one another and here to appreciate the peace and raw beauty of nature. Because of this, our cottage is a sanctuary for quiet relaxation. We have a strict no-parties, no-events, and no-loud-music policy. If you are looking for a lively party spot, this is not the rental for you. But if you are looking to truly unwind in a peaceful, respectful environment, you will find it here.
THE REALITY: A SIMPLE, WEATHERED BOAT HOUSE TURNED COTTAGE
Please read this carefully before booking to ensure our cottage is the right fit for your trip. This structure is 75 years old and originally started its life as a simple boat house. Today, it is a basic, weathered, and charmingly imperfect beach cottage.
To set accurate expectations:
Structure and Floors: Decades of coastal weather mean the cottage has plenty of character. The floors have a noticeable vintage slope and will vibrate a bit underfoot as you walk across the room.
Windows and Doors: The large panoramic windows offer incredible front-row views of the water, but they are older, drafty, and show signs of wear from the salt air.
The Vibe: This is a classic, no-frills coastal camp. It is comfortable and functional, but it shows its age and could certainly use some cosmetic upgrades down the line.
If you are looking for a pristine, newly renovated space with modern luxury finishes, you will want to look elsewhere. But if you want a comfortable, nostalgic place to lay your head with an unmatched front-row seat to the ocean, keep reading.
THE LAYOUT AND AMENITIES
The cottage features an open, studio-style layout and is equipped with all the basic amenities you need for a functional beach stay—including Wi-Fi if you need to stay connected. There is no private, standalone bedroom. The space flows together and is arranged as follows:
The Front Sitting Room / Nook: Positioned right in front of the large panoramic windows facing the water, this space serves as both a sitting area and a sleeping space. It features two comfortable leather recliners, a full bed, and a twin bed.
The Main Room: This open area contains a queen bed, a couple of additional cozy armchairs, and a small dining table.
Kitchen: A basic kitchen setup with a full-size refrigerator, open shelving for dishes, and essential cookware.
Bathrooms: There is a small, basic indoor bathroom with a compact shower. Outside, there is a private wood-walled outdoor shower—perfect for washing off the salt and sand after a day on the beach.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Come for the beach, the views, and the absolute simplicity. Expect an authentic, older structure that shows its coastal history. If you are ready to completely dress down, unplug, and enjoy a comfortable, classic beach-cottage life, we would love to host you.
