About this cottage rental
You’ll have privacy here. Guests use a dedicated walkway along the side of the main house to enter, so your entrance and your schedule are completely separate. The cottage features a remote work setup, WiFi, and its own direct hookup to the city utility lines.
Our neighborhood is a friendly slice of classic Florida. On any given afternoon, you'll see neighbors strolling past, walking dogs, or stopping to chat by the little free library right across the street. If you love music or just a great walk, Tom Petty Park is only a block away, with tennis and pickleball courts, a playground, and ballfields. Fun fact: Tom Petty actually grew up just a few blocks up our street.
I recently retired and continue to work as a freelance writer. When I'm not looking after the property, you might find me jogging (often at San Felsaco State Park), biking the 2.3 miles over and even kayaking.
UF's campus is a just 2.3 miles away, an easy commute if you're visiting for university business. Downtown is less than a mile and a half and occasionally walk. It's a flat, beautiful stroll through the historic Duckpond neighborhood and past the Thomas Center and gardens. Downtown is my prime spot for dinner, to hear music, to shoot pool or attend a play or movie at the Hippodrome State Theatre.
A quick note on pets:
We absolutely love animals (I have a rescue cat named Suzette!), but the cottage is too small to comfortably fit both people and animals. Because of its cozy size and a few tough experiences with guest dogs in the past, we keep the space strictly pet-free to guarantee a clean and allergen-free environment for everyone who stays.
