About this house rental

Step inside an enchanting 1881 Carpenter Gothic church, now reborn as a serene, heritage-listed sanctuary. Soaring timber arches, soft natural light, and minimalist styling create a peaceful retreat like no other. Just 10 minutes to MONA and 30 minutes to Hobart CBD, this one-of-a-kind escape blends history, design, and tranquillity for guests seeking a truly unforgettable stay.

Welcome to a truly rare Tasmanian stay — a state-heritage-listed 1881 Carpenter Gothic wooden church transformed into a calming, minimalist retreat. This extraordinary building retains its original soaring lines and timber charm, while modern touches make it comfortable and inviting. The main church hall, approximately 9.5m x 5.5m, forms a spacious open-plan living area where a luxurious king bed sits beneath the dramatic timber arches.

A cosy lounge area with a couch, coffee table, and TV provides a warm place to unwind, while the efficient heat pump keeps the entire church perfectly comfortable through every season. A small dining table for two complements the minimalist layout, ideal for relaxed meals or morning coffee.

At the entry end of the church, the fully equipped kitchen offers everything needed for simple and comfortable living. Featuring a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, portable induction cooktop, toaster, kettle, and Nespresso pod machine, it’s functional and tidy. While there is no oven, the space is well set up for short and long stays alike.

The separate bathroom is fully renovated and beautifully tiled, equipped with a shower bath , modern vanity, and a washing machine. It’s a fresh, contemporary space that contrasts beautifully with the historical character of the church interior.

Surrounded by the peaceful Collinsvale valley, positioned beside the old cemetery, and just minutes from local walking tracks and the sporting ground, this remarkable converted church offers a tranquil, secluded, and completely unique experience in Tasmania.
