An attractive former barn that once formed part of a 15th-century Somerset farm, this enchanting hideaway nestles in a gorgeous location. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom holiday home offers enticing, single-storey accommodation and a garden with picturesque views, from its setting 0.5 miles from Montacute. Wander into the picture-postcard village, with its honey-coloured hamstone properties, to visit the National Trust’s famous Elizabethan mansion, Montacute House. Tour the impressive building and explore its exquisite gardens and rolling parkland while you are here. The National Trust’s Tudor Barrington Court, 9 miles away, will also appeal greatly to history lovers. Spend time at Ham Hill Country Park, just 2 miles away, with its Iron Age hillfort. Keen walkers will also wish to plan a day trip to the beautiful Blackdown Hills, 17 miles away. Drive 4.5 miles into bustling Yeovil for a little retail therapy or to go to the theatre.


Ponder a while outside the barn, taking in the delightful scenery and savouring the tranquillity before heading inside. Enter via the hall, where you can unlace your hiking boots before turning right into the welcoming, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Lay a fire in the wood burner here on chilly autumnal days, then settle back onto the plush seating to toast your toes in its warmth. Find your current boxset on the Smart TV or enjoy a few pages of your book before heading over to the modern kitchen to prepare the next meal for your nearest and dearest. Gather round the table to enjoy your feast, which could well contain some delicious Somerset produce made by the owners. The twin bedroom can be found adjoining the main living space. This has zip-and-link beds and can also be set up as a super-king-size if discussed in advance. The king-size bedroom, with its boutique hotel-style decor, is accessed via the hall. You can choose whether to soak in the tub or rinse under the shower in the family bathroom.


Sit out in the sunshine of your enclosed garden on fine days. Sip a cold drink as you look out over the shared gardens and pond. Guests may also wander the beautiful, shared gardens and 3-acre orchard. There is private parking for two cars here.
