South Yarra is one of Melbourne's most consistently appealing inner suburbs. Claremont Street sits in the quieter residential section between the train station and the Yarra River, which keeps it calm without removing any of the access that makes the suburb worth being in.
Chapel Street is five minutes on foot. The South Yarra section from Toorak Road to Commercial Road has a different character to the Prahran and Windsor sections further south - more settled, with good independent restaurants, wine bars, and the kind of coffee worth going slightly out of your way for. Toorak Road itself has the village feel of a precinct that has been excellent for a long time.
Prahran Market is ten minutes on foot and runs Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Royal Botanic Gardens are fifteen minutes by foot and offer one of the better morning walks in the inner city. The MCG and Melbourne Park are straightforward by tram for event days.
South Yarra Station is three minutes from the building and puts the CBD five minutes away by train. Tram routes on Toorak Road and Chapel Street provide additional access. A car is practical for the Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, and other day trips, and the secure parking makes returning straightforward.
