Inspired by Hunter S. Thompson’s legendary “Fat City” campaign, the property blends western character, desert-modern design, and outdoor living across 3 fenced acres of high desert.
Spend your days in the cowboy pool, soak in the hot tub under the stars, play bocce at sunset, or hang out in the saloon with a drink and good music. The ranch was designed to feel fun, memorable, and a little unexpected — while still being comfortable enough to fully settle in and relax.

▲ GETTING AROUND
A car is needed in the high desert. Most guests drive between Joshua Tree, Landers, Pioneertown, Yucca Valley, and Twentynine Palms during their stay.
The property sits on quiet desert roads with easy access for standard vehicles. Gravel roads are common in the area — just take it slow and enjoy the views.
Ride-share services like Uber and Lyft can be limited or inconsistent late at night, especially after events or concerts.

THE DESERT
Fat City sits on open high-desert land in quiet Landers, California. Please respect the land, wildlife, and peaceful nature of the area.
• Nights get extremely dark — a flashlight helps
• Temperatures drop quickly after sunset, even in summer
• Desert winds can arrive suddenly — secure loose items
• Wildlife is common (jackrabbits, coyotes, roadrunners, occasional snakes) — never leave food or pets unattended outdoors
This is a fragile desert ecosystem. Please leave it better than you found it. 🏜
GETTING HERE
⚠ GPS can occasionally misroute guests in the desert. We send custom turn-by-turn directions before check-in.
• Gravel roads are normal and accessible for standard vehicles
• Look for the small “FC” horseshoe sign near the ranch gate
• Once you turn onto Linn Road, you’re close
PROPERTY NOTES
• Please flush toilet paper ONLY — desert plumbing is sensitive
• Cowboy pool is guest-fill — message us ahead of time if you'd like it prepped before arrival
• Hot tub is always ready
• Quiet hours begin at 10 PM out of respect for neighbors
