Set high on a forested bluff on the western shore of Whidbey Island, this multi-level home opens to a wide sweep of Admiralty Inlet, with the Olympic Mountains rising across the water and evening light that turns the whole horizon gold. Towering firs frame the property, the shoreline waits just down the slope, and the quiet here is the kind you only find an island away from the mainland. Inside, Eagles Bluff is built around a soaring great room where tall windows pull the water view straight into the living space. A stone fireplace anchors the room, vaulted ceilings carry the light from morning to dusk, and there's room for the whole group to spread out across deep sofas. The kitchen is generous and fully equipped, with enough counter space to cook for a crowd, and the dining table seats eight just steps from the view. Four sleeping spaces welcome up to ten. Two bedrooms each anchor on a king, while a bunk room stacks a queen-over-twin bunk and adds a twin daybed — room enough for kids or a whole crew of friends. A den rounds things out with a twin daybed and twin trundle. Two full bathrooms serve the home, and a dedicated laundry room keeps longer stays easy. There's a game room on the main floor for the in-between hours, stocked with board games like Ticket to Ride, Qwirkle, and Battleship, plus livelier picks such as Pictionary Air, Throw Throw Burrito, and Simon, along with a tower-stacking game, card games, and a shelf of puzzles for slower afternoons. Outside is where this place really comes alive. The deck carries a dining table for eight, a propane fire table for cooler evenings, and a hot tub set toward the water. A propane grill handles dinner, and down in the yard a wood-burning fire pit sits right at the edge of the bluff, the kind of spot you settle into as the sun drops behind the Olympics. There's a basketball hoop and open lawn for games, and a trail that winds down to the beach below. The setting is half the draw. Greenbank sits at the island's narrow middle, where you can practically see water on both sides. Greenbank Farm is just up the road, with walking trails, a bakery famous for its Whidbey pies, a cheese shop, art galleries, and an off-leash field for the dog. A few minutes south, Meerkerk Gardens spreads across 53 wooded acres, its rhododendrons putting on a full show every spring. South Whidbey State Park brings old-growth forest and a quiet beach on the inlet, and Freeland covers groceries and dinner without a long drive. Head south to Langley, an arts village of galleries and bookshops perched above Saratoga Passage, or north to historic Coupeville on Penn Cove. Gray whales pass through these waters in spring, and the ferries at Clinton and Coupeville make day trips to the mainland and Port Townsend simple. If undisclosed pets are brought into the home without AvantStay's approval there is a fine of $500 per pet. - Whidbey Island is home to a naval air base. On a few weekdays each month (and occasionally in the evening), you may hear loud flight training. The Navy does not conduct training on weekends or holidays and typically publishes the schedule one week in advance. - Wooded bluff home surrounded by forest, steps from the beach, with water views throughout — a natural, off-the-grid feel. - Cell reception is minimal; expect limited service during your stay. - Air conditioning in the main living space only, via a split mini-system. - All other rooms have baseboard heat only (no AC). - Home is heated with oil — not gas or propane. - Wood-burning fireplace in the main living space; firewood is not provided. - Multi-level home, not wheelchair accessible. - Steps at the entry and throughout the property. - Stairs between the main floor and second floor. - Small step up into the primary suite shower. - Hot tub accessed by steps down from the deck. - No elevator on site. - Winter conditions can turn icy; wind storms occasionally bring power outages. - Set in the woods, so local wildlife may be present, including deer, rabbits, raccoons, owls and other birds of prey, bats, mice, and seasonal insects (spiders, mosquitoes, ants). Parking Details: - The driveway is a single-lane road that's tight and narrow — not ideal for large vehicles, oversized trucks, or trailers. Please plan accordingly when arranging your trip. This is a smoke-free property. Violation of the no-smoking policy will result in forfeiture of the security deposit, a $300 smoking fee, and liability for any fire or property damage costs. As part of our commitment to being good neighbors, occupancy limits and quiet hours (9pm-8am) are strictly enforced. No speakers or sound systems will be provided for use in our properties. Violation of any noise ordinances will be subject to fines that can reach up to $10,000 per violation. Events or parties are not allowed without prior written approval and an additional fee. Any unauthorized parties or events will be shut down and a fine will be assessed. Please inquire for more information about our event policies and fees. There is nothing more important to us at AvantStay than the health, safety, and experience of our guests & staff. We've enhanced our cleaning and sanitation protocols and are taking extra care to disinfect all surfaces between reservations with hospital-grade disinfecting solutions. As a reminder, we do work with 3rd party vendors to maintain the property, and although we adhere to the strictest CDC guidelines and advise all contractors to wear PPE equipment, we can not always enforce. We strongly advise guests to please deny access if any vendors fail to meet and adhere to these standards. IDs will be requested for verification after booking. All bookings over 28 days require a security deposit. We report and prosecute all Credit Card Fraud.
