About this house rental
The Space
There are holiday rentals, and then there is this. The Weinkeller Ans is a centuries-old wine cellar at the end of a traditional Kellergasse in the heart of Austria’s most celebrated wine region – restored over years of careful work into a home unlike anything you’ve stayed in before.
The house unfolds across three levels, each with its own character and purpose.
Level 1 – The Cellar
Enter through the street-level door and descend into the original cellar space, where history is alive in every stone. A beautifully preserved antique wine press stands as the centrepiece of what is now an atmospheric bar area – a perfect spot to open a bottle and settle in for the evening. Warm yourself by the historic ceramic Kachelofen (tiled stove), or step into the infrared sauna for a long, restorative session.
From here, a door leads into the Kelllerröhre – a 25-metre vaulted cellar tunnel where wines from the finest local Weinviertel producers are stored and available for your enjoyment throughout your stay. This is the Austria of centuries past, perfectly preserved.
Level 2 – The Living Floor
Up the stairs to the bright, fully equipped kitchen and dining area – the social heart of the house. A complete kitchen makes self-catering easy and enjoyable, and the adjacent bathroom with shower, washing machine and dryer has everything you need for a longer stay.
Level 3 – The Sleeping Floor
The top floor is your private retreat. The bedroom features a double bed and a sofa bed, and its own shower bathroom. Step through the door onto the rear terrace, where a large stone table with benches is set against the backdrop of vineyards and open sky. Morning coffee up here is not optional.
