Pandawa Quarters

I stayed one night at this location in Pandawa, upon the recommendation of a good friend of mine who moved to Bali from Australia. First thing that struck me was how Pandawa does not have the routine over-populated feel of regular touristy areas like Canggu and Seminyak. To be honest, that's really quite refreshing as I think Bali has evolved in the last decade or so to become so busy that it has lost its original charm. Hence being in Pandawa took me back quite a number of years to a quieter time in Bali. I just hope this area remains the same for a few more years to come; although that's quite unlikely given that this housing block itself is also new. Nonetheless, the villas here are brand new, and as I learned from the property manager (who speaks excellent English, and apparently knows Japanese too!), this is designed by a Singaporean team. That explains why the architecture is so different from the typical Mediterranean style projects that are all over Bali now. Within the villa, the villa's interior is much larger than it looks from the outside. I think they designed the space really well, and it comes with full furnishings too, including even a washing machine/dryer, cooking utensils and hob, Netflix-enabled Smart TV, etc. To top things off, they have a really neat pool / jacuzzi with an open air deck that gets really windy in the evening. Perfect for a family gathering and to have guests over. Really quite a different experience from what you typically see around Bali.

If anything, I think one thing they could have improved is how the staircase does not have railings, which can be unsafe especially in the night. I almost tripped and fell whilst trying to get a glass of water in the night (the dispenser is in the kitchen downstairs). Luckily I managed to hold on to one of the stairs that prevented my fall. I think they should think about doing something about this.

I loved how the service is so personal and attentive, especially via the front desk manager Mr Aan. I almost misplaced one of my favourite slippers, and fortunately he called me up to tell me it was nicely kept for me after I checked out. Mr Aan's manners and care for my stay was exceptional, and even the security staff were so willing to help! Furthermore, the villas have been an excellent place to live in. I have been visiting the Pandawa area quite a lot in the past few years because of how it resembles old Bali more (i.e. away from the over-commercialization of the Canggu / Seminyak / Kuta areas), and whilst this area has also been more built up of late, it still gives a rustic feeling to me that brings back nolstalgic memories. What's great then about this place is the fact that it is new and modern feeling, but yet I still remain in close relation with the natural environment. Certainly a place worth visiting again and again! Thanks again Pandawa Quarters team!

So far so good; no real complaints regarding the villas. Maybe except the fact that the public beach now charges money for entry; even though the amount is small, it is still more an annoyance than anything. Wish this requirement would be removed eventually to allow people to truly enjoy the beach.

I loved what the designers did to the place, in terms of the completeness of the setup, as well as the finishing. All of it looked so professional and welcoming, my husband and I really felt at home with this layout and design of the property! We had maximum privacy and yet felt as if we were well taken care of with the 24/7 security and concierge services. We even got to know Pak Aan, the property manager, who made sure to introduce the property fully, including how to use the equipment such as the cooking hob, washing machine, water dispenser, etc. I loved this place overall; and will certainly come back if I stay in the area again. 11/10 for everything.
