About this house rental
You live in a house that was built around 1908 by boat captain Karl Meyer as a home for a family of Weser riverboat captains. It is one of a row of three residential buildings on the outskirts of Oedelsheim, directly on the Weser River.
The houses were built around the same time and reflect the way of life during an era when shipping on the Weser still played a major role.
In 2011, it was designated a cultural monument.
The extensive renovation carried out in the following years with great passion under the leadership of architect Dipl.-Ing. Peter Reuting, required a careful approach to the existing building fabric and led to the preservation of, for example, the front door, the stairwell, the original windows in the kitchen and bathroom, a number of interior doors, and portions of the old plank floors.
In the “Antique Bedroom,” the original coat of lime paint—which was still partially intact—was preserved, followed by the application of ornamentation using a roller technique.
During the renovation, great emphasis was placed on the use of natural and ecologically sound building materials, such as clay plaster, clay paints, and larch wood plank floors.
The aim is to highlight the house’s historic character as a defining feature of its quality.
With its soothing atmosphere that radiates comfort and evokes the charm of the good old days, the house is designed to give you—in these modern, hectic times—the opportunity to slow down a little and indulge in a break filled with relaxation and well-being.
Old Boatman’s House:
Enjoy spacious living in this comfortably furnished home. The modern kitchen, featuring a cooking island, oven, and dishwasher, opens onto the bright dining and living area—ideal for spending time together. Four bedrooms with single and double beds—including one box-spring bed—as well as three bathrooms provide plenty of space. A terrace, lawn for sunbathing, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and two parking spaces round out the amenities.
On-site costs: A 20% deposit may be charged after booking. The remaining balance is due via bank transfer. Cancellations made up to 14 days before arrival are free of charge; cancellations made between 14 and 7 days before arrival will be charged 50% of the total cost, and cancellations made within 7 days of arrival will be charged 100% of the total cost. Check-in is available from 4:00 PM to midnight. Check-out is by 11:00 AM. Other check-in and check-out times may be arranged upon request. Please contact us in advance to make arrangements. Keys will be handed over in person on-site. A crib or rollaway bed can be provided free of charge upon request. Pets are not allowed. The tourist tax of €2.00 per person per night will be charged additionally on-site. Please understand that the house serves as vacation/holiday accommodations and therefore is not rented to construction workers, foresters, etc.
