About this house rental
The village is home to a pleasant mix of permanent residents and mostly French vacationers; it has a pleasant social fabric—neither too loose nor too tight—and people are always there for one another. An active residents’ association organizes activities, especially in the summer, such as communal meals, an annual petanque tournament, music evenings, or classes.
The mountain village is fairly secluded, which is precisely why you can set out from home on beautiful hikes (including one of the “Chemins de Compostelle”) and countless mountain bike or cycling tours. A 2-kilometer walk away, you can take a morning dip in a beautiful mountain lake. In the charming village of Saint-Gervais, located five kilometers away, you’ll find all the essential amenities; a lovely 20-minute drive along the river will take you to several villages and one small town along the Orb, where amenities are plentiful. Just over an hour’s drive south, you’ll reach the typical French coastal towns with beaches, (seafood) restaurants, and terraces along the Mediterranean Sea.
It can also be rented for longer periods, making it ideal for “writers in residence” who wish to spend several months working on dissertations, research reports, or a first novel (excellent fiber-optic internet connection). Thanks to a well-functioning wood-burning stove and a few electric radiators, it’s comfortable to stay there even in the fall and winter.
Amenities at Fine vacation home in mountain village; endless hiking, cycling and MTB possibilities
