• 🚤 Boating – Bring your own boat or rent a pontoon, ski boat, fishing boat, or houseboat. The lake has over 50 public boat ramps and several full-service marinas.

• 🛥️ Houseboating – Lake Cumberland is often called the “Houseboat Capital of the World,” with many visitors spending several days living on the water.

• 🎣 Fishing – Excellent for striped bass, largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, walleye, catfish, and bluegill. A Kentucky fishing license is required.

• 🏄 Water skiing and wakeboarding – Wide open sections of the lake make it a favorite for tow sports.

• 🌊 Tubing – One of the most popular family activities behind pontoons and ski boats.

• 🚤 Jet skiing (PWC) – Personal watercraft are permitted throughout most of the lake.

• 🛶 Kayaking and canoeing – Quiet coves are ideal for paddling and wildlife viewing.

• 🏄‍♀️ Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) – Calm mornings are especially good for paddleboarding.

• 🏊 Swimming – There are designated swimming beaches as well as many secluded coves. Swim only in safe areas, as many locations do not have lifeguards.

• 🦅 Wildlife watching and photography – Bald eagles, deer, wild turkeys, and many water birds can often be seen around the lake.

• 🌅 Sunset cruising – A favorite way to enjoy the lake without participating in watersports.

Visit Pulaski County Park, which has a family-friendly swimming area, picnic shelters, playgrounds, and hiking trails.

Then take a short drive to Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, known as the “Niagara of the South.” You can:

• Hike to scenic overlooks

• Watch the waterfall

• Go rafting or kayaking on the river (seasonally)

• Look for the rare moonbow if you’re visiting around a full moon.
