Tinariwen Luxury Camp

After spending quite some time looking for a desert camp that met our expectations, we finally booked the Luxury Camp. Unfortunately, it fell far short of what was advertised. We were looking forward to sitting outside our tent, enjoying the mountain views with a cup of tea or coffee. However, there was no mountain view, no tea or coffee-making facilities, and no outdoor furniture. When we asked about this, we were told that the only difference between standard and luxury tents was the air conditioning – something that wasn't even mentioned in the description. Quite misleading! The camel ride was entertaining but ended with a short sales pitch. Dinner was very good, while breakfast was rather disappointing. We enjoyed about an hour of traditional Berber music before it was replaced by loud pop music from speakers – not exactly the authentic desert atmosphere we had hoped for. With arrival at 6:30 PM and departure at 7:30 AM, there was hardly any time to enjoy the desert or experience meaningful cultural exchange. We are genuinely surprised by the overwhelmingly positive reviews, as we cannot relate to them at all. Overall, the experience did not live up to its description or price. Definitely not worth the money!
