Very clean room and bathrooms. Staff is friendly. Love the old building, reminds me of my dorm life. And I would definitely book it again for the gym center that is insane.

Excellent value for money, and the location and proximity to UC Berkeley was perfect!

Room was very small, but it was clean and safe. Bathroom was down the hall. Good value for the money.

The manager evidently set up a new policy where she was going to put a hold of $50 on my debit card for a few days. I didn't want them to do that but she wasn't around. After a few days I saw that no hold was on my card so I dropped it. I stayed overnight on OCT 9> Today, October 15 I saw that the Y charged my card $50, not a hold but a charge. And if it was going to be ahold, it would have been lifted by now. I immediately called the Y to speak to the manager but was told she is in a meeting and will call me back. I called my bank to stop payment but it was processed already. but they will fight the charge. This is fraud. I called your East Bay HQ (I stayed at the Berkeley Y) and there is no one there to answer. First of all, it is outragous to put a hold on a card when I wasn't told a hold would be put on my card when I paid for the room a week earlier. Second, it is outragous that a hold of $50 was put on my card for a room that cost me ***. That's almost *** of the room. Obviously someone staying at the Y doesn't have $50 to throw around. Finally, it is outrageous that instead of a hold you charged me $50. I can't speak for all the Y's but the manager of the Berkeley Y is not ethical and I believe is committing fraud. I will report the Y.
