Farmhouse at Leeds is built so that everyone can be together all day and still have somewhere to disappear to. The house itself is a restoration that left the good parts alone: original architectural details, two wood-burning stoves, and a gas fireplace anchoring the main room. The kitchen is where the day starts and usually where it ends — custom cabinetry, soapstone counters, a proper range, a wet bar, and a breakfast nook that catches the morning. It runs straight into the combined living and dining space, where the farmhouse table is long enough for the kind of dinner nobody wants to get up from. Upstairs, a sunroom with a balcony is the quiet seat in the house, good for a coffee and an hour with a book. A washer and dryer are located in the garage, keeping the practical side of longer stays handled without interrupting the character of the home. The primary bedroom is the one people photograph. Its bathroom is built around a sculptural standalone soaking tub set inside the walk-in shower — a genuinely unusual piece of design, and better in person than it sounds on paper.
