Very happy with my stay here. As suggested in the title, it was quiet, clean, and has easy access to a number of different day trips. And since Yamagata and many surrounding areas are primarily resort destinations, I dare say it would be near impossible to beat the pricing, even if a bit further away than some of the other options. Also, the owners also operate a homemade mochi store that was a lot of fun (and tasty) to visit!

The neighborhood is absolutely stunning and everyone is so sweet. Everyone in the building is also extremely sweet and the cafe on the first floor is absolutely amazing. The bed is comfortable and the staff is extremely sweet and very helpful. Also a great way to meet other travelers.

The guesthouse is located in Murayama close to Murayama Station, about 5 minutes walk. It is very easy to get to Ginzan Onsen, you only need to take the train for about 11 minutes to Oishida Station then take the bus to Ginzan Onsen..
Yamagata Guesthouse is actually very comfortable, it feels like home, just because this is a building that uses a very well-maintained former school, the bathroom is on the 1st floor while the bedroom is on the 3rd floor. Inside the hostel there is also no sink for washing hands or glasses, so it is a bit difficult to throw away the remaining water in the glass.
When I checked in, I met Nao, the owner of the hostel who was very friendly and kind. She really helped me with my needs to go to Ginzan Onsen. The guesthouse also provides transportation to Ginzan Onsen. If I go to Ginzan Onsen again, of course I will stay here again, and hopefully one day at least there will be a kitchen sink in the hostel area (3rd floor).
Downstairs there’s Nu Ma Cafe, the have very delicious pizza and pasta
