Hotel Golden

I stayed here for two nights and cannot recommend it. Location: The hotel is over an hour away from Madrid city center by public transport. A taxi to/from airport costs about €20. There are better and cheaper options much closer to the airport. I arrived at 6:00 AM after a 12-hour flight and was forced to pay an extra *** for a "room upgrade" just to get an early check-in. The room was extremely disappointing: Light poured in from under the curtain above the bed. When I complained about it, the hotel refused any refund or compensation because I hadn't reported the issue the exact moment it happened (while I was asleep). They offered to change a room, but i got back at midnight and all i wanted to do is to sleep!! The floor was filthy, walking barefoot left my feet covered in dust. The shower is unusable; the water fluctuates between scalding hot and freezing cold every time a neighbor uses their water. Despite being told by reception that a late checkout (2:30 PM) was fine, a cleaner walked into my room without even knocking while I was in the shower. Management was dismissive and confrontational when I raised these issues, refusing any compensation such as a breakfast voucher or a gesture of goodwill. They showed no interest in resolving my concerns or upholding basic customer service standards. Do not stay here. If you book in advance, you can find much better accommodation in the city center for the same price. Avoid.
