The Neighborhood:
Happy Hideaway sits in a prime downtown pocket, ideal for exploring on foot. Head to Thames Street for storefront browsing, galleries, and a strong restaurant lineup, then continue toward Bowen’s Wharf and Bannister’s Wharf for harbor views, boutiques, and boats coming and going at the docks. The Cliff Walk is Newport’s signature experience, pairing Atlantic scenery with sweeping views of the mansion grounds, and the nearby mansion district is worth setting aside time for tours and gardens. For the beach, Easton’s Beach offers the classic Newport shoreline, while Second and Third Beach deliver a more open coastal stretch. Ocean Drive is the scenic loop locals recommend for wide water views, and Fort Adams State Park is a go to for big harbor views and shoreline paths. If you want time on the water, book a sunset sail or harbor cruise and see the city from the deck.
Getting Around:
Getting around is easy and enjoyable. Most of our homes are located in residential areas where you can walk, bike, ride a scooter, or rent a golf cart to explore. The islands are relatively small, and with a 25 mph speed limit on most streets, the area stays safe, family-friendly, and relaxed.
