Older facility. Great onsen but a bit of a walk to town and no ice available. Instant coffee

Very comfortable hotel and spacious room. Its an old hotel but maintaned really well. theres a public and private onsen too. The Hotel didn't have elevators in the building i was in. fortunately I brought a small overnight bag, so it wasn't a problem. the staff was also very accommodating. letting me leave my bags before check in and after check out so i could explore Hakone. The walk to the hotel is pleasant as well.

We had a lovely weekend stay at the Senkei Plaza Hotel. The hotel has such a unique, quaint, and traditional feel—we especially loved how it’s built right into the mountain and incorporates nature into the design. Having a beautiful river right outside was a highlight. The location is excellent, just a short 7-minute walk to Hakone-Yumoto Station. We also really appreciated the staff; because of some rainy weather, we arrived a bit early, and they were kind enough to let us check in ahead of schedule. A few things to note for future guests: The Room: It was a decent size for our family of four. The kids enjoyed having their own twin beds, while we opted for the tatami mats. Just a heads-up that the mats could use a bit more padding and the pillows were quite soft—if you need extra support, you might want to bring your own! Onsen: The outdoor onsen is a bit small and operates on a rotation schedule for men and women (note that there isn't soap provided in that area). However, we really enjoyed the private indoor onsen, which was more spacious and very relaxing. Dining/Parking: Parking is free, which was very convenient. Dining options on-site are limited—there is a small cafe for breakfast and an unagi specialty restaurant, but we didn't get a chance to try them during this trip. Overall, we felt this was a great value and would definitely recommend it to others looking for a traditional Hakone experience.

Family of 3, the room was large. The tatami bed was not made up, we had to make ourself. The shower is terrible and the curtain needs replacing. Other than that, the room was clean and comfortable. We were only there from approx 9pm to 9am, so for the price, it was ok for one night sleep. Would have used the onsen, but it was males only late at night, female time slot finished earlier - it’s disappointing there is not one for each. It’s a scenic stroll to/from the station. We did not have luggage, only overnight backpack, so the walk only once back and forth was not long for us.
