About this house rental

Welcome to The Creek, a private Penobscot Bay waterfront retreat with sweeping views, direct shore access, and a spacious deck made for morning coffee, evening barbecues, and quiet time by the water. Set back from the road on a large, peaceful property, this classic Maine home offers privacy, comfort, and room to unwind.

Unlike many properties that simply advertise “shore access,” The Creek offers private approaches to the shoreline across its own land. While no shoreline in Maine can be described as fully private, it is rare to see others walking this stretch, giving guests a quiet and secluded waterfront experience. Walk the mowed paths toward the bay, explore tidal pools at low tide, look for sea glass, watch wildlife, or simply enjoy the changing view from the deck.

Inside, the home is clean, spacious, comfortable, and well stocked for family stays, small gatherings, and relaxed coastal getaways. You'll find warm wood finishes, books, artwork, games, smart TVs, strong Wi‑Fi, comfortable beds, a practical kitchen, washer/dryer, multiple bathrooms, and air-conditioning in the main living/dining area and two of the three bedrooms. The home does not have whole-house central air-conditioning, but its coastal location helps keep it comfortable on most days.

The Creek is minutes from Castine and Maine Maritime Academy and works well as a quiet home base for exploring Bucksport, Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory, Sandy Point Beach, Acadia, Bar Harbor, Camden, Rockland, and the wider Penobscot Bay region.

Whether you spend your days exploring the coast or decide to stay right on the property, The Creek offers privacy, water views, shore access, and an authentic Maine waterfront experience.

Very cute cottage. Definitely would be a great place to return in the warmer months.

Enjoyable stay in very clean and tidy charming house! We loved our walk to Barrett Park along the water, shopping downtown at fun convenient shops, dining at three good restaurants. (Port of Italy, McSeasgull, and Blue Moon for breakfast. The Library and game room were there if we needed them, but were content to sit on the Library porch and read, listening to the birds.Loved being close to the water!Thank you from us all! Looking forward to a return visit.

Was super charming! Cottage is in a quiet neighborhood and was easy walking distance to the nearby Barrett Park and town of Boothbay Harbor. Feels like you're staying in something historical. Very clean and extremely well supplied on everything!

This is a very charming cottage with a lot of character and great location. We especially appreciated all the tips on restaurants and things to do. It’s on the trolley route and close to the foot bridge. Cons include the tiny bathroom (this would not be a good property for people of size. There is a tiny RV type shower. My husband and I and our 3 young kids were fine for 3 nights but wouldn’t want to stay longer). This is also not a kitchen you’d want to cook in. No dishwasher (which was advertised) and not a lot of counter space. This was fine for us as we ate out for lunches and dinners and just had simple breakfast items there so it worked well. The floors and ceilings are all slanted and wouldn’t be good for those with mobility issues. It was fine for us but would want others aware of that. This is also not a lounging type house if you’re looking for a property to lounge around on comfy furniture, etc. There isn’t space for that. We did appreciate the blankets though and homey touches. Overall, this is a great place for a small, young family that is close to everything but wouldn’t want to stay longer than 3 days. Lots of charm and character and fun to say you stayed at a cottage from the 1800’s. Also- I know it advertises sleeping 7 but I wouldn’t do more than 5 and no more than 3 adults as it’s very tiny. Kitchen and bath updates are needed but fine for a short, quick stay. There was also a nice outdoor fire pit (we didn’t have time to use it).
