The hotel was not what we expected. There was no refrigerator in the room, the bathroom smelled horrible, and the breakfast had very few choices, with limited healthy and nutritious options.

I highly recommend Hotel La Perle de Mogador in Essaouira, Morocco. It’s a great choice for anyone looking for a comfortable stay. The hotel is very clean, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful, making the experience even more pleasant. If you’re visiting Essaouira, this hotel is definitely worth considering for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

I really didn’t want to write this review as the staff are very very good however…..
Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly, and the check-in process was smooth. However, our room was riddled with issues. The shower was hanging precariously, making it almost unusable, the ceiling fan was broken, and to top it off, there were frequent power outages—two in just our short stay. The room was also infested with mosquitoes, which made it impossible to relax or sleep.
We immediately requested a room change, and while the staff promptly arranged for us to move, the new room was no better. Located near the trees, it had the same mosquito problem, alongside the broken fan and power issues. It felt like a recurring nightmare.
We stayed for two sleepless nights, unable to rest due to the persistent insects and uncomfortable conditions. Eventually, we decided to cut our stay short and leave early, as the situation was simply unbearable.
To make matters worse, although the hotel promised us a refund due to the circumstances, we have yet to receive anything. This lack of follow-through has added insult to injury.
The staff’s kindness and willingness to help are the only redeeming qualities of this place, but unfortunately, it’s not enough to recommend staying here. A hotel should provide a basic level of comfort and functionality, and this one failed on multiple fronts. I would not return or recommend it to others.

It’s about 3km from the center, not much nearby, but the beach isn’t too far. It’s quite old and run down, the water (sink and shower) is a little temperamental. The lift stopped working one day. I had to reactivate my key every day. I was also the only westerner in the hotel and socialising wasn’t really an option. Breakfast was quite basic, a lot of sweet things, not my thing but that’s a matter of taste
