Black Cap Camden

This is a fantastic place to stay, the Black Cap was a famous, drag show pub (Regina Foo being the main performer) whiuch was rescued from closure by a local campaign .so the decor and room names reflect that, it is quirky. There is a nice bar and terrace hidden away inside the pub My room was really spacious with a lovely bathroom, makes such a nice change in London. The bedding and towels were luxurious, the room very smart and clean, and the brewing facilities in the room, generous . Location is fantastic 2 minutes from Camden Town tube, 5 Minutes from Camden Locks, 20 min walk from Euston. Staff could not have been more friendly or helpful.

Being in a town centre location it was a bit noisy at night, but what do you expect! Otherwise it was great.

Location was perfect for our weekend plans.

TV didn't work, the only way we could watch anything was to screen share from our phones. Also the only mirror was the one in the bathroom.

As it turned out, our accommodation in Camden is home to one of the most famous drag venues in the world, which is, of course, absolutely fabulous in itself! The crowd and the whole neighbourhood are very international and diverse, which we really enjoyed.

The problem is that this isn’t really a hotel. It’s a queer nightclub with rooms upstairs. There’s no breakfast, no reception before the place opens, and the staff aren’t professional hotel staff. The rooms also don’t have air conditioning, which was pretty unbearable in the (admittedly unexpected) London heat, especially since the windows are tiny and some of them can’t be opened at all. Additionally, none of this was made clear on Booking.com. The listing gave the impression that the place was a fully fledged hotel in the middle of Camden, which simply wasn’t the case.
