The village itself is surrounded by Dales countryside and makes an ideal base for walking and touring throughout the Northern and Yorkshire Dales areas, boasting superb fell, flat or river walks and cycle rides from the doorstep. Barnard Castle, with its many historical and cultural attractions, is just a 10 minute drive away.
