Well where to begin.. they upgraded our room for free when we checked in, sent someone up ahead to make sure our room was ready, someone escorted us up to room to explain the remote and details of the room, got a call to see if we had any questions later, to name some of the excellent service we received while here. I say it is not for contemporary travellers because you have got a huge glassed in shower in your room which in my opinion is hot. The big plasma tv and free expresso was a bonus as well. The room service was very reasonably priced and was excellent. The staff there go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your stay. There is some street noise but I don't think you will find a hotel in the Gaslamp area that you can't hear the street. Would definately stay there again.

This is not the Westin, but it's way more fun! Good espresso machine in room, turn-down service with different sweets every night on the bedside table. Some street noise from partyers, as one should expect in a tourist area like this. Big glass cubicle shower in the bedroom--a turn-on if you're young and in good shape, but not for the overly modest! Nice toiletries. Friendly young staff. A pleasant morning walk (on clean streets!) to the convention center.

My husband & I have been to San Diego on several vacations & stayed in Mission Bay. We decided to stay downtown for a change to be able to experience the restaurants in the Gaslamp district. We arrived & had no problem checking in early. The staff was extremely friendly & helpful with any needs. They made the stay enjoyable like we were a member of the family. Finally the room was great! I love modern design & the bed I wanted to take home, I had the best nights sleep ever in a hotel & the nightly treats were incredible. (especially the brownies!)

Great stay for the price!
