La Dolce Casa

I had a lovely stay at La Dolce Casa. If you’re travelling on a medium to lower budget and want to stay right in the heart of Lucca, this is a charming and very convenient option. The location is definitely one of its biggest advantages. It’s inside Lucca’s beautiful walled city, and almost everything you might need is within a five-minute walk, restaurants, cafés, gelato shops, supermarkets, bike rentals, bus stops and a taxi stand. It’s a fantastic base for exploring Lucca on foot and really enjoying the atmosphere of the city. The apartment itself is charming and has pretty much everything you need for a comfortable stay. The only thing I personally missed was an iron, particularly because I was attending a wedding and needed to rescue a rather wrinkled dress! 😄 Overall, I had a very good stay and really enjoyed the apartment’s charm and fantastic location. I personally don’t mind a little heat or the sounds of city life, so neither affected my experience too much. For travellers looking for an affordable, characterful place in a brilliant central location, La Dolce Casa is a great little base for discovering Lucca. A special mention also goes to our host, Claudia, who was very attentive and helpful throughout our stay. Communication was easy, friendly and responsive, which made the whole experience even smoother. Thank you Claudia, for having us!

The noise from outside. There are a couple of things worth keeping in mind. Because it’s an old building with wonderfully thick walls, the Wi-Fi connection can be bad, There is also no air conditioning, so during the hotter summer months it can get quite warm. A fan is provided, which worked well enough for me, but if you’re particularly sensitive to heat, it’s something to consider. The area is also quite lively, especially in the evenings and at weekends, when the nearby bars fill up. If you leave the windows open to get some fresh air, you can hear people and traffic outside, so light sleepers may want to keep that in mind.

Appartamento molto bello nel cuore del centro storico di Lucca da dove è possibile raggiungere a piedi tutti i luoghi e i monumenti più importanti della città. La stazione dista 10 minuti a piedi. Pulitissimo, ordinatissimo e dotato di tutto per quanto riguarda cucina (deliziosa, da cartolina), bagno (con bidet e doccia) e camera da letto (soffitto con travi di legno). Non c'è l'aria condizionata; al suo posto un ventilatore. Devo però dire in tutta sincerità che essendo una costruzione antica, le mura isolano abbastanza bene dal caldo, essendo il mio soggiorno negli ultimi e roventi giorni di luglio. Nei dintorni ci sono attività commerciali di ogni tipo: alimentari, bar, tabacchi, ecc. Gentile e disponibile la proprietaria. Consigliato.

L'appartamento ha una scala d'ingresso molto ripida. Per me non è un problema, ma potrebbe esserlo per chi ha difficoltà motorie. Come già sottolineato, non è dotato di aria condizionata. Per il resto c'è tutto e personalmente la trovo una "chicca". Ci sono stato benissimo e ci ritornerei volentieri.

Location, facilities, character of the place.

The lack of air conditioning might be a problem but I was aware of this when booking so nothing to do with the place itself. It's Italy in July so you might expect hot weather:-)
