I stayed at Kattil from 5th–7th July and later booked accommodation directly for family members based on my experience. Unfortunately, while the property itself has potential, the management and guest experience were inconsistent.
During my stay, I was initially told I would be moved to a girls' dorm but after waiting most of the day, I was eventually placed in a mixed dorm. This wasn't a major issue for me personally, but it felt unprofessional.
The property listing mentions amenities such as a shared kitchen, terrace access, and free toiletries. However, there was no toilet paper or hand wash available in the washroom during my stay. The kitchen policy was also unclear. Some guests, including my family and another guest I spoke with, were told the kitchen was for staff use only, while larger groups appeared to be allowed to cook and use the facilities without restriction.
The listing also states that stag, hen, or similar parties are not accommodated. However, during my family's stay, a large group of male guests were drinking alcohol on the premises, loud music continued into the night, and alcohol bottles were reportedly being cleared the following morning. This created an atmosphere that did not match what was advertised online.
Another concern was the inconsistency around check-in and checkout policies. The published checkout time is 10:00 AM, yet my family was informed they needed to leave by 8:30 AM because they had been allowed access to a room earlier in the day. We were also told that because the booking had been made directly rather than through Agoda, the advertised rules did not apply. This was disappointing and felt unfair.
A final point is regarding staff conduct. Early morning noise from staff conversations and phone calls regularly disturbed guests, which could easily be avoided with a little more consideration.
Overall, the property itself is decent and the location is convenient, but clearer communication, consistent application of policies, better guest management, and adherence to the amenities advertised would significantly improve the experience.
