Beautiful 5 bedroom house and garden

I liked the good price, very good value, comfy beds and sofas, lovely kitchen and diner. Drive way was very useful. 5 bedrooms was exactly what we needed.

Got locked out of the house, the front door slammed shut because the sky light was left open, the draft from that caused the door to slam. Tried to ring the owner but their phone was switched off, which is not how it should be if there's a problem, should be on 24 hours a day/night. Contacted booking.com but they didn't help, was on the phone to them for 3 owners, waiting to get through then when I got through kept getting cut off. So had to call a locksmith because no one would help. Then the next day the owner said it was all my fault the door slammed, should not be 2 locks on a door, he didn't want to help at all or cover any costs, he wasn't bothered at all, ignored my messages after that. So if you decide to stay here always keep the key on you at all times. The front door does not open properly either, you turn the key its very fiddly and stiff, the handle is so lose, it will come off eventually, need a new front door and door frame. Side door is absolutely fine, so I'd use that one instead if you can't get in the front as it's the same key. There is no description anywhere about the house and about anything important or useful information. When having a shower on the first floor, the water comes through the floor into the middle room downstairs, the water goes through the lights on the ceiling, this needs fixing, the floor was absolutely soaked, massive puddle of water on the floor. I did take pictures and videos of this. Cables are hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen/diner, the house is nice it's just not finished, the ceilings in the lounge and middle room downstairs have water stains on them, leaking from both showers upstairs. Need more mirrors in the house, fans would be helpful as it was warm. Lights don't work on the landing upstairs, so I can't see going upstairs. No small towels for the bathrooms/toilets.

The house was big enough for our family of 8 to stay. All rooms were a good size, and very clean. Plenty of bathrooms. The kitchen was lovely and spacious and had facilities for us to cook and store our food. We didn't cook at all but we did use the fridge and the dishes provided. Lovely big long garden also for kids to play in. There was a goal but no football available for my kids to use but that didn't stop them playing in the garden. The house was a ten min walk to the town which was perfect and a detour through the park was welcomed by the kids too. Very central without being right in the town. very close to supermarkets and cafes and bus routes to the airport. Plenty of towels provided and extra clean sheets if needed too.

I gave this property stay a 9 out of 10. The one point I've taken away as there was not adequate lighting going up the stairs on both floors which could cause an accident. The bedrooms could also do with bedside lamps. And the garden furniture needs replacing as some chairs were very wobbly or uncomfortable to sit out in. But we would certainly stay here again though as our overall experience of this property was very positive.

The bedding and towels could be improved

The kitchen area is a lovely, modern open space with lots of amenities and great ambience for entertaining everyone. There is driveway parking on a main road - which is handy. There are a good number of bathrooms and a downstairs W/C - which is also handy.

The whole house is very much in desperate need of some TLC and a deep clean. There are many signs of wear, tired and some broken furniture and many signs that the property has not been cleaned properly for quite some time, including a grimy odour and feeling underfoot as soon as you enter and copious insects and wildlife caught in spiderwebs surrounding each kitchen skylight. The house is on a busy main road, which may be out of the host’s control, but good for guests to know what they’re signing up for. If you stay in the summer months, as we did, and you have your windows open at night, the main road gets very noisy in the early morning. I’m not one who is overly bothered by traffic noise, but this was quite loud. The towels and the bedding, particularly the towels, were honestly of very poor quality and probably the worst towel situation we’ve ever come across. The towels are old and cheap with no tread on them at all, but worse than that, the host only provided one decent sized towel per room. If you are two adults in a room, or indeed even two teens in a room, you will be attempting to dry yourself with a hand towel after your cold shower. We had three adults, four teens and a 7 year old, who still struggled with the size of the towel. Not brilliant.
