If you hang outside in the patio area of the house, you can probably catch any of the sightings:
Hawks,
Cardinals,
Lizards,
Barred owls
If you’re closer by Ocala National Forest, you can see any of the following:
Florida black bears (population of 1,200)
If you’re in Silver Springs, you can see any of the following:
Alligators,
Turtles,
Manatees (depending on the szn Nov. 15th-March 31st are when manatees swim through the springs but you can see them in the summer too),
Otters,
Rhesus Macaque Monkeys (population of 200),
Marsh rabbits,
Bald eagles like to be near the waters, keep your eyes open!
Lots of migratory birds come in between October and late winter. Key species include Sandhill Cranes, Cedar Waxwings, Palm Warblers, and various waterfowl.
If you like to fish, spotted sea trout and sea bass migrate over in the winter time.
Other details, it’s wet season in Ocala, FL during May 1st thru mid-Oct. when it usually rains between noon and 5 p.m., quite the experience if you’re at Silver Springs! It’s the thunder you have to be more cautious of if you’re out.
Hurricane szn runs from June 1st thru November 31st. With most active period particularly for hurricanes making landfall is mid-August through late October.
