About this cottage rental

A charming cottage in the quiet village of New Galloway, this delightful retreat is a perfect hideaway for walkers, golfers, nature spotters and history buffs exploring a beautiful corner of Dumfries and Galloway. With a rich history stretching back to the 17th century, New Galloway is a cheerful burgh and is home to a picturesque 9-hole golf course and the CatStrand arts centre. To the west, the glorious Galloway Forest Park (1.5 miles) offers a wealth of activities including mountain biking, forest trails and stargazing in the UK's first Dark Sky Park. Heading south, the ruins of Kenmure Castle are just under a mile away, standing close to the northern tip of the stunning Loch Ken. At the southern end of Loch Ken, the thriving town of Castle Douglas (14 miles) has a choice of great shops and restaurants, with nearby landmarks including Threave House, Threave Castle, and Carlingwalk Loch.

Four external steps lead up to the entrance of the cottage, opening into the welcoming sun porch which has plenty of space for leaving coats and shoes and for drying muddy paws. French doors lead from the porch into the inviting lounge which features comfortable seating and a Smart TV as well as a fold-out dining table. Heading through, the handsome country-style kitchen is fully equipped, with ample workspace and a useful breakfast table; find all you need to cook up Scottish feasts for the group. Exploring the ground floor of this sweet cottage further, you will find a refreshing family shower room and the first of three characterful bedrooms: a lovely double with plenty of storage space, a TV and pretty views across the mature woodland. Upstairs, the spacious first-floor landing has a handy desk and chair in case anyone needs to catch up with some work. The first floor offers two bright and cheerful twin bedrooms with Coombe ceilings, courtesy televisions and storage space with one bedroom overlooking the garden and the other overlooking a quiet lane.The accommodation is rounded off with a first-floor WC.

Heading outside, steps lead down from the back door into a small, enclosed yard and then along to the mature woodland garden, which has some lovely rural views and relaxing outdoor furniture. Bike storage is available alongside parking for up to four cars.
